Teacher of England Will Be Speaker Miss Lillian Chandler, London, England, who is in Indianapolis as an exchange teacher at Washington high school, will speak at the general meeting to be held by the American Association of University Women, Tuesday night, in the Hunters’ lodge at the Marott. Dinner will be served at 6:30. Hostesses will be members of tne International Relations Study Group, with Mrs. Arthur Fockc as chairman: and members of the association who are graduates of Indiana colleges other than Indiana and Purdue. Members may invite guests. Reservations are in charge of Mrs. Carroll Skaar. Music section of the Fine Arts study group will continue its study of symphonies at 10 Friday morning at the home of Mrs. T. Victor Keene, 3209 North New Jersey street. Art Section to Meet Art section of the same group will open Thursday with a meeting at 3:30 at John Herron Art institute. Miss Blanche Stillson of the institute will speak on the twenty-fifth annual exhibit of the work of Indiana artists and craftsmen. Tea will follow the program. Subsequent meetings of this group will be held at 10 each P’riday morning at the institute. Mrs. Walter P. Morton is group chairman, and is in charge of reservations. These may be made for either the entire group of ten meetings, or for single lectures, and are open to non-mem-bers. French Conversation study group meets at 10:30 each Monday at the home of Mrs. N. Taylor Todd, 5147 Kenwood avenue. The group will welcome any persons interested in its study. Mrs. W. L. Richardson is chairman, and receives reservations. Conference Is Scheduled The A. A. U. W. is employing various means to raise money for its fellowship fund. The schedule includes a sale of paper ware in the near future, and a bridge party tc be held at Highland Golf and Country Club the first week in May. Mrs. A. H. Hinkle is chairman of the party. Members interested in playing bridge for benefit of the fund may notify Mrs. J. M. Williams, in charge of the project. The regular bridge sections are also contributing to the fund, in charge of Mrs. J. H. HeWitt. The biennial section conference of the A. A. U. W. will be held at the Oliver hotel in South Bend, April 8 and 9. Members wishing to attend are to notify Mrs. Todd or Mrs. Paul E. Tombaugh, president. Little Chorale Club to Hold Tryouts for Musical Comedy
Little Chorale Club will meet in Cropsey auditorium of the Central public library at 8 Monday night for try-outs for “Pickles,” a threeact musical comedy, to be presented this spring at a local theater. Selection of principals will be made within a few weeks and applications lor membership will be accepted at the Monday night meetings. The Little Choral Club, an independent organization, was organized two years ago under leadership of Mrs. O. E. Rundell, and has a roster of sixty members. Pianists Will Give Recital at Institute A recital of music for two pianos will be presented by Mrs. Elsa Peterson Klein and Harold Eugene Cook at 8:15 Wednesday night at John Herron Art institute, under auspices of Franklin college. Both musicians are members of the college faculty, and have studied abroad. The same musicians appeared in a concert last year at the Indianapolis public library. Lucy Court and Floyd V. Kehl Are Wedded in Church Rites
Miss Lucy Court, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Court, 1318 Edgemont avenue, became the bride of Floyd Virgil Kehl in a ceremony at 7:30 Friday night at the McKee chapel of the Tabernacle Presbyterian church. The Rev. W. H. Kendall officiated. Mrs. C. H. Eberhardt, organist, played before the entrance of the bridal party, and played ‘‘To a Wild Rose” during the ceremony. MLss Helen Miller sang ‘‘At Dawning,” and “I Love You Truly.” The altar was banked with palms, ferns, and other greenery, and was lighted with cathedral candles. The bride wore a fitted princess gown of white satin, with long sleeves, square neckline, and floor length skirt forming a short train. Her tulle veil was edged with Chantilly lace, and fell from a lace cap, studded with seed pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a shower of bride roses and lilies of the valley. Raymond B. Crabbs was best man. The bride’s mother wore a gown of black crepe, trimmed with beige. Mr. and Mrs. Kehl left immediately after the ceremony for a short wedding trip. They will be at home at 1318 Edgemont avenue. The bride’s traveling ensemble was of brown silk with matching accessories. Mrs. Kehl attended Indiana university. A bridal dinner for the members of the wedding party was given Thursday night at the home of the bride. The table was centered with sweet peas, and lighted with blue candles, tied with pink tulle, carrying out the bridal colors.

HadassaHs to Observe Anniversary The Indianapolis chapter of Hadassah will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the national organization of Hadassah at 2:15 Wednesday at the L. 8. Ayres tearoom. Members are requested to meet in the eighth floor auditorium. This celebration will be in the form of a purim party, as it occurs just before the feast of purim, celebrated by Jews throughout the world, linking up the story of the biblical Queen Esther, whose Hebrew name was Hadassah. Writer Will Speak The major feature of the afternoon will be an address by Mrs. Elma Erlich Levinger of Columbus, 0., a writer of Jewish stories and of playlets for use in the religious schools. Mrs. Levinger is an honorary board member of the Columbus chapter of Hadassah and is senior advisor of the Columbus Junior unit. Other features will be violin selections by Harold Jaffee, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Jaffee and a “Purim Phantasy” directed by Mrs. Milton Steinberg, assisted by Mesdames Nathan Toplin, Jack Harding and Miss Emma Gelman. Mrs. Henry Blatt will preside. Reservations for the birthday party may be made with Mrs. Max Marcur or Mrs. Maurice Perk.* Relief Work Cited From its inception in 1912, Hadassah has clung to its single specific purpose in Palestine, the establishment and maintena j of health institutions and service for all elements of the population, regardless of race or creed. Hadassah started its work twenty years ago, by sending two nurses to Palestine to do home visiting. Today it maintans four large hospitals, 33 polyclinics, 22 infant welfare stations, two health centers and the only complete X-ray institute in the entire near east. In addition, health of 25,000 children in the Jewish schools is supervised by their school hygiene department and 3,500 children are fed hot, nourishing lunches. Hadassah stresses preventive medicine and public health education in all its institutions and services.
Scholarships to Be Awarded at Kappa Fete Scholarship awards will be a feature of the annual Kappa Kappa Gamma state luncheon next Saturday at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. These awards will be presented to the girl from each active chapter, who has made the highest grades in her group during the past year. Luncheon speakers will include Mrs. R. D. Canan, Lafayette, a former province president, and Mrs. Q. B. Taylor of the local alumnae. The committee in charge of the luncheon which with the dance is sponsored by the Indianapolis Alumnae Association, includes Mrs. Lyman R. Pearson, chairman, Mesdames Retta B. Morgan, James R. Blacklidge, Misses Jean Coval, Ruth Stone and Virginia Ballweg. Anniversary Is Observed by Sorority Annual state luncheon of tho Delta Gamma sorority was held today at the Columbia Club. rhe speakers’ table was decorated with a center plateau of spring flowers, in bronze, pink, and blue, the sorority colors. Baskets filled with the flowers stood at each end of the table. Guests were seated at tables for eight, each decorated with a floral centerpiece, with each place marked by corsages of pink and blue sweet peas and Talisman roses, tied with bronze ribbon. Mrs. Churchman gave the welcoming address, which was followed by a candlelight service in honor of the sorority’s three found- ; ers. This was conducted by Miss Edith Brown, Indiana university, and Miss Mary Grace Majonnier of Butler. Misses Dorothy Ann Brandt, Indiana, and Ruth Pahud. Butler, reported on chapter activities, and new chapter presidents were introduced. They will be delegates to the national convention to be held in Victoria, B. C., Canada, in June. Stunts by the chapters completed the program. PLAY TO BENEFIT THERAPY WORK Miss Hilda Hayward Hibben will present the Indianapolis Players in “Her Husband’s Wife,” at 8:15 Monday, April 4. in the ballroom of the American Life Insurance building on Fall Creek boulevard. Dancing to the music of Jack Tilson’s orchestra will follow at 10:45 and supper will be served in the cafeteria adjoining the ballroom. Proceeds will go to Indianapolis Junior League occupational therapy work, and is one of the projects for the fund being raised by individual members. MONDAY CLUB TO ELECT OFFICERS Monday Club will meet at the D. A. R. chapter house for its regular business session, to be followed by election of officers. The afternoon program will include a group of spring songs by Mrs. F. W. Schuimeyer, accompanied by Mrs. Barton Johnson.
