DETROIT’S REDS DEFIANT; PLAN MASSJFUNERAL 60 Held, 5 Leaders Sought in Aftermath of Riots in Which 4 Were Killed. By United prett DETROIT, March 9.—Communists defied police today with plans to hold a "mese fuperal” for their four comrades slain ~’hen a mot of unemployed stormed the Fo.'d R'.”er Rouge plant. To precede the funeral, the radical organization announced preparations for a meeting Friday to outline future demonstrations similar to the one which, police allege, led to the fatal rioting Tuesday. The meeting and funeral will be held in Arena Gardens. Authorities pushed their inquiry Into the causes of the march on Dearborn. Sixty alleged members of the mob Iwcre held in the Wayne county jail while police asked federal authorities to aid in apprehending five alleged Communists accused of inciting the riot by inflammatory Speeches. Prosecutor Harry S. Toy said he would press a grand jury investigation to obtain indictments under the Michigan criminal syndicalism law. He named as four of the alleged leaders wanted: William Z. Foster, national Communist leader; William Reynolds, who recently was sentenced to ninety days in the Detroit House of Correction for leading a demonstration in Pontiac, Mich.; John Schies, former Communist candidate for mayor of Detroit; Albert Goetz, a reputed member of the Lincoln park unemployed council. Police Chief Carl Brooks of Dearborn asked the United States goverrtment to assist in fixing responsibility for the march. The suburban city council commended police for their “cool judgment and heroic efforts in stopping the riot.” Cable Car Wreck Kills Three By United Preen MONTE CARLO, March 9.—A French passenger injured in the accident of the funicular railway here Tuesday died today making the total of deaths three. Two cars on the train broke loose and slid backwards down the cable, crashing into the station and a crowded street.
