By United Press LONDON, Feb. 23.—Great Britain’s policy in the Far East will be to co-operate with the United States and the League of Nations in whatever action may be agreed upon, according to Sir John Simon, foreign secretary. Simon presented Great Britain’s official stand in a statement Monday night before the house of commons. He said England is convinced that "affirmation of the principles of the League of Nations with boldness and sincerity” is essential to solution of the Sino-Jap-anese question. Simon’s statement was in reply to the insistence of George Lansbury, Labor leader, that the league quickly "decide on some appropriate action.” Lansbury mentioned the possibility of economic measures or withdrawal of ambassadors to halt the fighting. The foreign secretary declared that, as far as he knew, he absolutely could contradict the widespread belief, reported by Lansbury, that a secret compact existed between Japan and any other power \ in regard to the Chinese situation. V The British press has carried re'ports of a secret Japanese-Soviet treaty, and the American press has discussed Japanese understandings with England and France.
