GIRL IS HELD AFTER ROBBING WITH TOY GUN Brown-Eyed, Bob-Haired Shortridge Student Is Nabbed at Hospital. (Continued from Page 1) who walked from the hallway into the street. L. C. Driskell of 2832 North Illinois street, Apartment 5, told police he saw the girl get into a Chevrolet coupe at the curb and drive away. The girl next appeared at Twentyeighth and Illinois street, where she was picked up by a taxi driven by Hottenrock, police learned. Hottenrock said later that he “almost ran over the girl” as she waved for him to stop. Hottenrock said Miss Wood entered his cab and, brandishing a revolver, told him to “drive north.” At Thirty-fourth and Illinois streets, Hottenrock said, Miss Wood ordered him to park at the curb behind another taxi. Miss Wood leaped from the cab, Hottenrock said, and ran to the side of the taxi parked ahead. Three Men Looted John F. Freeman of 2154 Ringgold street, driver, said Miss Wood opened the cab door, and, waving the gun, ordered Freeman and three other men to “give me money.” “My partner is up the alley and I’ve got you covered. Give me money!’' he quoted Miss Wood as saying. Freeman and the three men, C. H. Emery of 2007 Reformers avenue, Charles Pence of 429 West Norwood street and Wesley Richmond of 3014 Clifton street, handed over a total of $4.25. Miss Wood ran back to the cab driven by Hottenrock and sounded the horn several times, police were told. When Hottenrock failed to return, Miss Wood fled into the alley, according to Freeman. Falls and Breaks Arm Within a few minutes, Miss Wood stopped an automobile, driver of which is unknown, at Thirty-sec-ond an Illinois streets. According to her story to police, Miss Wood held her revolver on the driver and commanded him to drive to Illinois and Ohio streets. Here, Miss Wood flagged the taxi driven by Pattrum, and was driven to the Union station. En route, she robbed Pattrum of a small amount of money. Pattrum swung the cab around and drove to the front of the Fair building.
