Then a vessel passed and transferred a half barrel of water to the crew. It gave out quickly. Another vessel transferred a bit more. Today, however, the craft put Into Halifak without any food or water aboard; the fuel tanks were empty and the one engine had been kept going for the last week with oil bailed up from the engine pits. The Which One appeared at Halifax harbor and raised the distress signal. • A customs boat today gave the Which One a tow into port, where her hatches were sealed pending posting of bond. None of the heavily whiskere#and gaunt sailors was in bad condition. A lighthouse is called a pharos from the ancient lighthouse which stood on the island of Pharos, in the harbor at Alexandria, Egypt.

SEIZE FIVE FOR THEFTOF COAL Detectives Ambush Quintet in Railroad Yards. Indiana coal supplied on township poor relief orders didn’t satisfy five men arrested early today, according to statements of three railroad detectives. The prisoners are Albert Hopwood. 19;* Warren Hopwood, 20, and James Monday, 23 t all of 3332 South Harland street; Robert Ashman, 42, of 732 Perry avenue, and Jeff Dickard, 27, of 712 Martin street. The detectives, H. W. Quellhorst, C. L. Moran and C. W. Randall, reported they lay in wait from 1:30 to 4:30 this morning while the five men unloaded seven tons of Kentucky coal from a car at Troy avenue and the Pennsylvania railroad.
