HEAVEN'S FOLK SMILE ON NEW BRIDEINSHOW ‘De Lawd’ Blesses Flatfoot and Virginia; Cain VI, Noah Attend Party. Indianapolis is abed. Theatergoers have put the milk bottle out. Lonely policemen in areaways, and breathe warm blasts on cupped, chilled fingers. All is quiet, except at 226 North Capitol avenue, room 16. And there, as morning creeps through, “De Lawd" has placed his benediction on the no-account creeper-man, who stole Cain the Sixth’s gal. "De Lawd,” in fact, approves the creeper-man,, Flatfoot; especially Flatfoot's choice in a wife with, "That's a nice job, Flatfoot.” Moses Climbs Down And the "nice job" is Miss Victoria Johnson of Chicago, who was married, Monday, to Freddie Archibald, alias Flatfoot of "The Green Pastures" company, playing a week's engagement here at English’s theater. Every one is in a flutter in Room 16. For "De Lawd” is one of the guests at the wedding party, and King Pharaoh, too, and even Cain Sixth, who, a few hours earlier, had knifed Flalfood in the back, in front of . the Ark. Even Moses has climbed down off his mount to attend the party. And, naturally, the comment of "De Lawd's” that Miss Victoria was a "nice job” .must bring some recompense to "De Lawd." So Flatfoot’s wife replies to the words to her sweet man with, ’De Lawd always can get a manicure from Victoria without charge.” For before her marriage Miss Johnson was a Chicago manicurist, and she’s brought her tools of trade with her to keep the cherubs and the angels properly clipped between acts. Celestial Greats Revel ■ De Lawd” told Flatfoot and his wife that getting married was the thing for young folks to do. Cain Sixth, and by the way a buddy off-stage of Flatfoot’s despite the knifing in the play, chimes in with, "She’s a million-dollar baby from a five-and-ten, Lawd.” "De Lawd” leaves. The party’s merriment increases. A marriage is a blessed event, and then some, in a theatrical company. King Pharaoh pleads a sleepyhead and excuses hiipself. Moses moves out to get some shut-eye. Cain Sixth gives Flatfoot a dig in j the ribs and "so-long, Flatfoot, see j you at the knifing tonight.” Indianapolis is awake. "De Lawd” is asleep so are King Pharaoh, Moses, Cain, the cherubs, angels and Noah. Day Programs WFBM (1200) Indianapolis Indiananolis Power and Light Company WEDNESDAY A. NINE MEMBERS OF ALLEN JURY SEATEDJN BOX Judge Rebukes Debutante for Interview She Gave Monday. By United Press NORRISTOWN. Pa., Feb. 2.—The task of selecting a jury to try Edward H. B. Allen, blue-blooded steeplechase rider charged with murdering Francis A. Donaldson 111, to vindicate his sister’s honor, was resumed when county court reconvened today. District Attorney Stewart Nase insisted upon jurors who had no scruples against the death penalty. Defense Attorney Fletcher W. Stites objected to veniremen who had formed opinions. Both were having a difficult time deciding on which of the hundred men and women summoned for jury duty wotild decide young Allen’s fate. Judge Knight mounted the bench and immediately reprimanded Rose Allen, 19-year-old sister of the defendant, and central figure of this major scandal in Philadelphia’s exclusive society. < "My attention has been called to an interview with one of the witnesses in this case,” Judge Knight said. “We want to condemn this (severely as highly improper conduct.” Rose Monday told reporters that she still loved "Skinny” Donaldson, and that her heart was "buried in his grave.”, , - Miss Allen was not in the courtroom. Judge Knight then directed the calling of the first venireman. Six men and one woman of the jury already were in the box. Only two jurymen were added this morning, bringing the total in the box to nine.
