BANDITS KIDNAP TAXICAB DRIVER; GET 30 CENTS Pair Nabbed by Railway Cop, Taken to Cells as Victim Reports Robbery. Less than an hour after they robbed a taxi driver of 30 cents, part of which they repaid as fare, two alleged bandits were captured and the victim identified them. Detectives said the pair admitted the holdup. The accused gunmen are Jack Slack, 19, and Thomas Dasies, 18, both of Brazil. The men confessed, police said, to forcing Paul Elrod, 633 Home Place, the cab driver, to hand over his money after ordering him to drive to Wilkins and streets. They gave back 15 cents and fled. While walking along a railroad nearby the suspects were halted and searched by Omar Bare, 2538 North Capitol avenue, a railroad detective. While Elrod was reported the robbery at police headquarters, Bare led the suspects into detective offices, where Elrod identified them as the men who robbed him, detectives said. Awakened by a noise as they slept this morning Mr. and Mrs. Henry Morgan, 101 North Colorado street, discovered a burglar ransacking dresser drawers. The prowler fled taking a revolver, a watch and $37.
