START PROBE IN $60,000 FIRE AT GRAIN ELEVATOR Streams of Water Are Kept Playing on Ruins at Acme-Evans Plant. Investigation into the origin of a fire which destroyed a huge grain elevator Wednesday at the AcmeEvans Company plant, 852 West Washington street, causing loss estimated at from $60,000 to $150,000, was launched today by Are officials. Firemen still were playing large streams of water on the smoking ruins today, and police details patrolled the area for blocks around. Two city nremcn were injured Wednesday during the two-hour battle to keep the fire from spreading to other parts of the plant, where thousands of dollars worth of grain are stored. They were Lieutenant Cale Racobs of engine house No. 13, who was hurled against a box car by a whipping hose line, and Harry Sherman, also of engine house No. 13, who was overcome by smoke. Both are recovering today. The elevator, more than 100 feet high, was built forty-one years ago. It contained grain worth more than $60,000, all of which was destroyed. Dirks was elected to represent the Immanuel Reformed church, of which he is a member. Nipper will represent young people’s organizations of the city. His father, the Rev. James A. Nipper, w'as superintendent of the mission twelve years ago.
