The gates of toyland have been j swung open at the Peoples Outfitting Company, 133 West Washington street. Eddie Frodell, interna- j tionally-known circus clown, again ; reigns supreme as Santa Claus and extends a hearty welcome to every- I one to visit his domain, particu- i larly the youngsters of Indianapolis. This toyland is indeed a marvel- j ous country, with many wonderful j t hings to see. First of all, there is | electric train town, where all sorts ! of gorgeous electric trains, all set i up and running, are on display. All | sorts of new fangled devices are i featured in this extensive display, devices which make these intriguing ; toys even more like the real thing than ever before. An auto show of especial interest to the younger set now is in pro- j gress, featuring the very latest styles in autos, wagons, cycles, doll 1 go-carts and such wheel goods derA to the hearts of all healthy youngsters. A stroll down Plaything Avenue : proves most instructive and enjoyable. Here are shown every kind of : game and mechanical toy conceiv- j able. Doll Hotel will attract the ! girls for every sort, of doll, big, little, j blond, brunet, the sophisticated kind I and the naive, all stay in this hotel, i They are very friendly, too. and will I make up with any little girl who | stops to talk to them. Besides all these sights, there are j drums, sleds, picture machines and I all the other familiar objects of I toyland to be seen. In addition, ! Santa Claus has a gift for every j child who comes to see him. Toyland is not the only depart- j ment in the Peoples Outfitting ! Company, where Christmas shoppers j can find gift suggestions. The en- , tire store is brimful of practical j merchandise for the home at prices j in keeping with the times—which ; means at prices decidedly lower than in many years. HOOVER PROPOSAL HIT Freedom for Food Ships in War Impractical, Council Holds. NEW HAVEN, Conn., Nov.-30.—1 European nations would not accept; President Hoover’s proposal that! foodstuffs be eliminated from con- ! traband lists in time of war, accord-! ing to a report by the council of j foreign relations, of which John W.; Davis is president. President Hoover proposed In an ; Armistice day speech tw-o years ago I that food ships should be free from j interference. The suggestion was found by the council’s committee of I investigation to be impractical, since it would ‘‘destroy the offensive j value of a nation's sea power at its j root.” Rules oil Funds Liability Counties using certificates of deposit from local banks in trading I with the state for the 7-ccnt school tax are liable for the funds, and not the state, according to an opin- I ion given the state auditor by Attorney James M, Ogden today.
