AMERICA'S AIR LINES CONTINUE TO LEAD WORLD Half Million Passengers Are Carried by U. S. Planes in Year, Report Shows. Ky Bcripp-Haward .Vet ctpapcr Alliance WASHINGTON, Nov. 27.—America continues to hold its lead far ahead of any other country in the world in civil aeronautics, it was indicated today by the annual report of Clarence M. Young, assistant secretary of commerce for aeronautics. The most outstanding progress in American aviation during the last fiscal year was in the field of air transport operations. At the end of the fiscal year American operators were flying on schedule, both in the United States and on foreign extensions, 140,314 miles every twenty-four hours. This is an incraese of 37,132 miles daily over the previous year. More than 37,000,000 miles were flown over scheduled airlines during the year, and nearly half a million pasengers carried.
