SHAW DOOMED TO OBLIVION BY famousauthor 'He’s Just Sound and Fury, Meaning Nothing,’ Says Frank Harris. B<J United Prts, NEW YORK, Nov. 27.—George Bernard Shaw is doomed to oblivion ten centuries hence, in Frank Harns biography, published today. Barns held that biographic dictionaries a thousand years from bow will mention him thus: Shaw, Bernard; subject of a bust by Rodin; otherwise unknown.” 'The famous Irish author and playwright is held in greatly exaggerated importance by the world and himself, according to Harris. Shaw presents “too much confusion, too much sound and fury, signifying nothing,” to mean much to posterity, Harris asserted. The biography, based upon a hall century’s Intimate friendship, contains a postscript and heretofore unpublished letters by Shaw. • It reveals that Shaw considers himself a “born philanderer” who was pursued by women, but never had a love affair. He wrote to Harris last year in recalling his romantic experiences. ‘‘l was gallant in the old-fash-ioned Irish way—but there was nothing in it on my side—thus, I escaped seduction until I was 29. I am of the true Shakesperian type; I understand everything and every one, and am nobody and nothing.” Shaw’s attitude to nudists is very kind, Harris learned. He once sat for a portrait ‘‘in the altogether.” In reference to this episode Shaw is quoted as saying: ‘‘Though we have hundreds of photographs of Dickens and Wagner, we see nothing of them except their suits of clothes with their heads sticking out, and what is the use of that?”
