HINT SHOOTING MELEESOLVED Man Held by Cops May Be Holdup Gunman. Snooting of Mortimer Schussler, packing company head, during a purported holdup almost a month ago, was hinted as solved today with the arrest of Victor Wray, 23, of 1826 West Vermont street, on a charge of vagrancy. Wray was held in solitary confinement in default of a $5 000 bond. Schussler, president of the packing company, is recovering at city hospital of a gun shot wound which he said was inflicted during a holdup at the plant. He was shot in the leg. He told police that he and O. S. Hamilton, bookkeeper, were alone in the offices when a lone gunman entered, ordering Schussler to “give me your bucks.’’ Schussler said he reached for his own weapon and that the bandit fired at him with a shotgun. It was learned later, however, the shot had been from a pistol. Polic° also learned several of Schussler’s friends had been present when the shooting occurred, but had left before arrival of authorities.
