BURLESQUE NUTS ARE SERVED HERE Edith Taliaferro and Donald Brian Deliver the Laufihs in This Mental Sewer of Very Delightful Manners, BY WALTER D. HICKMAN THIS Noel Coward is a very smart baby as he takes the most common of all things, wife and husband fighting. And is this a battle of smart words? It is like a slap on the arm or a sudden stop by copper on the comer. It will smack ypu on the nose or you will freeze up like an iceberg. It is up to you. This man know* his theater in the most common terms i and he dresses it up like a diamond in dialogue. The thing you want to know is how it is being done here. The cast, meaning the two who spill all the sexual fun of being married once, then divorced and then back j into domestic habits, is right. Am speaking of Donald Brian and Edith
Taliaferro. The rest of the cast is merely an incident. These two— Taliaferro and Brian—are right. They read into the Coward lines the vital burlesque seven the wrestling)
which is necessary to the very life of this bit of sophisticated bunk. A Here is smart bunk, the last word in ti ps y theater. Coward is not a God. He is just a mighty smart showman who knows about everythin? that he should know. And his actors go through burlesque paces that bring on an audience panic if wise.

You will love this smartly and well done thing or you will hate it. “Private Lives” is nothing but a burlesque laugh. Smart, delicious and expertly written and acted by people who know how. But the set here is a cheap imitation of nothing. A stock producer would not dare to give us this sort of a thing. One time when a “door” was closed I thought every thing was going to fall down. And I suffered to look at ar. imitation book case painted in on the set. I have no fault with Miss Taliaferro, Brian and Coward. The set (production) is what I am finding fault with. As to words, situations and acting —the last word in the last degree of final nonsense. At English’s tonight and Saturday. n n tt Other theaters today offer: “Rich Man's Folly” at the Indiana, “The
We Apologize \ In our advertisement announcing our Sale of Bankrupt Stocks we mentioned “JUST FORTY Mep’s Suits and Overcoats at $5 Each.” In spite of the fact that “just 40” were advertised, nearly 100 men were waiting at the door—and more kept coming! Dozens were disappointed and offended. And RIGHTFULLY so. It was our mistake! Such a small quantity at such a low price should not have been mentioned in our ad.
