DEMOCRATS OF SIXTH DISTRICT IN LOVEFEAST State Notables Attending Rally at Noblesville; Farm Plea Voiced. Bu Timet Special NOBLESVILLE, Ind.. Nov. 6. Democrats from every county in the new sixth congressional district gathered here today for the biggest gathering of the fall in this section of Indiana. Courtland C. Gillen, Greecastle, Democratic congressman, spoke to more than 2,000 Democrats at Forest Park, demanding relief for the farmers, and believing that here lies the seat of all the trouble at present, Gillen asserted: “Put the farmer on his feet, by giving him reasonable prices for his product, and the rest of our troubles will straighten themselves out.” Other political notables attending are: R. Earl Peters of Ft. Wayne, Democratic state chairman; Paul V. McNutt of Bloomington, and Frank Mayr Jr., secretary of state. John A. M. Adair, of Portland, spoke to a gathering of men and women at a meeting at 10 and stressed harmony among the various candidates and especially among the organization workers. Meade Vestal, attorney and Hamilton circuit court ex-judge, made the welcome address. Alden H. Baker, well known in Democratic politics throughout the state, was in charge of the program and introduced the various candidates. Followers of Baker were convassing the various workers from the district concerning his candidacy for Sixth district chairman. Baker is expected to have little difficulty in obtaining the chairmanship. Democratic workers from the northern part of the district are contending that, with the congressman coming from the southern part of the district, it is only natural that the chairman should come from this county. ‘HALL CAINE’ IS TOPIC “Sir Hall Caine and the Isle of Man” was the topic of Miss Blancha Young, teacher in the commercial department at Technical high school, speaking before the Stratford Literary Club Thursday. Miss Young has made several visits to the island, her most recent being this summer. She sketched the life of Hall Caine, telling of his influence on English literature. Y„ Nov. 6.—Cecilia Cooney, one of the modern era’s most notorious women criminals, returned to society today after serving a term in prison for robbing for her unborn child. The rather frail Brooklyn girl, termed the “bobbed-haired bandit” when she and her husband Edward made nightly forays on small business places in Brooklyn in 1924, left for New York, determined to “come back” with anew career. Her husband awaits her in New York—having been released from prison previously—and the two will meet there today. Together, they plan to start life anew, he as a process server for a New York law firm, and she as a typist there. Both releases were on parole, by recent order of the state ‘ parole board. The air minister informed the United Press that the government had accepted anew Hispano-Suiza super-compressed airplane motor of SOO-horse power, weighing 1.000
pounds and capable of 350 kilometers (217 miles) an hour. France will build anew fleet of combat planes with the super-motor next year, he said, adding that the Lorraine Renault and Gnome Rhone concerns would build similar planes.
