STORMY SESSION LIES AHEAD, SAYS NORRIS Bitter (’lashes Will Be Frequent in Coming Congress, His View. By l niter! Press McCOOK, Neb., Oct. 23.—The coming congressional session will see more frequent and more bitter clashes than any in many years, George W. Norris, insurgent Republican senator from Nebraska,
predicted Thursday in an interview with the United Press. In spite of the fact that close party division of the two houses may place his insurgent group in a position more powerful than ever before, the Nebraska senator halfdreads the coming session, he said, then added he would be glad nevertheless to “get buck on the floor.” Norris, white-haired, mild-man-nered, clad in a splattered pair of overalls, was painting a fence when interviewed. Through an open window, Mrs. Norris, a book open in her lap, watched him.

CITY TO NOLO SAFETY WEEK, STARTING NOV. 1 Program to Open With Rally at Garfield Community House. Safety week will be observed in Indianapolis the week of Ncv. 1, Lieutenant Frank Owen, police accident prevention bureau director, announced today following a meeting Thursday night of the citizens' safety committee at the" Columbia Club. Addresses at schools, factories, and public meeting places will be given by members of the committee during the week. The program will open at' Garfield park community house Nov. 2 and will include a series of group meetings for instruction of bus and taxicab drivers in safety measures, Owens said. Investigation of the city ordinance passed several months ago to regulate operation of taxicabs was delegated to a committee including L. Ert Slack, former mayor; Henry O. Goett, city clerk, and Captain Lewis Jonhson, police traffic department head. Urging immediate curbing of the practice of taxicabs “cruising” to pick up passengers, Slack stated “this city is a hick town for allowing such a practice.” “Bringing of 100 taxicab drivers, who were arrested for reckless driving on Monument Circle, into police court and fining them has failed to curb ’cruising',” Captain Johnson stated.
