MOONEY PARDON RALLIES TO BE HELD OVER U. S. Sunday Is Set Aside in Nation as Day for Protest Sessions. JjU Srrippu-Hairard Xrwupnpcr Alliance WASHINGTON, Oct. 9.—Sunday, Oct. 11, will be marked all over the United States as Tom Mooney pardon day. From San Francisco, where new evidence of Mooney’? and Billings’ innocence is promised at a Mooney pardon convention, to Boston Commons. where Harvard professors and others will speak at an open-air rally, meetings will v held in the larger cities to arouse'the nation to protest against continued imprisonment of the innocent men. More than 10,000 are expected to attend the San Francisco mass meeting at 2 Sunday afternoon in the civic auditorium. Charles M. Fickcrt, Mooney’s prosecutor, has been invited to appear and defend himself against the “frame-up” charge. Music has been donated by Musicians’ Union band. Pledge New Evidence New evidence from at least two hew witnesses is promised. A radio hookup over stations in San Francisco and Los Angeles will carry the proceedings all over the country. Frank P. Walsh. Mooney's New York attorney, and Lincoln Steffens are expected as speakers. Rena Mooney and Tom Mooney’s mother will speak. On Boston Commons speakers will include Dr. Sheldon Gulcck and Professor Arthur Schlesinger of Harvard faculty. Mrs. William Z. Ripley, Alice Stone Blackwell and the Rev. George L. Paine, executive secretary of the Massachusetts Federation of Churches. Hearses to Be There The New York meeting will take place at 1 Saturday at Union square.
