THREE GRILLED AS SUSPECTS IN COLLINGS DEATH Ex-Veterinarian, Son Held in South; Boatman Is ‘Hot Clew/ UU Untied Press NEW YORK, Oct. I.—Three men were .held today at widely separated points for investigation in the mysterious "pirate” slaying of Benjamin P. Collings aboard his cabin cruiser, Penguin, in Long Island sou^d. Two of the men were under detention at Daytona Bech, Fla., but their early release is impending, unless tangible evidence promptly is provided. The other Is held at White Plains, N. Y., and authorities hint that they regarded this man as providing one of the hottest clews in the three weeks’ old mystery of Collings’ murder and the attack on his cultured young wife. The men held at Daytona Beach are Dr. Leslie Ritchie. 51, and his son Wililana, 25, of Norwalk, Conn.' The elder Ritchie formerly was a veterinary. Police Chief C. J. Luke at Daytona said he would release them "within two hours unless something definite turns up.” Authorities at Norwalk refused to issue a warrant for the arrest of either of the men, pending the obtaining of more concrete evidence against them. The man held at White Plains is William Hubner, a boatman, authorities intimated they placed high significance in revelations he made during questioning, but were vague as to what these revelations wiere. He speaks with a strong German accent. JMrs. Collings said the elder of the twio “pirates” sometimes used bad
