FORCE RANKER TO OPEN SAFE, STEALSS,OOO Family Held Captives All Night in Own Home by Courteous Bandits. I By United Pri’* MILTON JUNCTION, Wis., Sept, j 18.—Four bandits who installed i themselves in the heme of John A. | Paul, president of the Farmers bank j late Thursday and held Paul and his family captive during the night, obtaining $5,000 from the bank today and escaped. Paul was at home alone when the bandits threatened him with guns, forced him into a bedroom and then awaited arrival of other members of the family. When his sons, Paul Jr. and Malcom, and a daughter, Janet, arrived, they, too, were herded into the bedroom with the banker. The bandits apparently were well informed regarding the family’s membership. The bandits told the Pauls ironically to “make yourselves at home —you’ve got a long wait,” and chatted pleasantly until this morning. Then they ordered Malcolm to accompany them, tied up the other members of the family and walked to the bank. Admitted by Malcolm, they stripped the safe of bundles of money and drove away. Miss Paul, a former University of Wisconsin co-ed, was amazed at the bandit’s “courtesy.” She said she couldn’t identify any of them. It was believed the same gang was responsible for robbery of the Citizens National bank at Stoughton, a nearby town Thursday.
