ADMITS SLAYING MOTHER-IN-LAW SHOOTING WIFE, Wabash War Veteran to Be Arraigned on Murder Charge. By United Peru WABASH, Sept. 11.—A remorseful confession was laid before Sheriff Zeno Malott by Emery Templeton, 40-year-old World war veteran, today as he related events which culminated In the slaying of Mrs. Samuel Eccles and wounding of j Templeton's wife. Templeton was captured on a | road south of Wabash today, two ! days after he fired three bulletsj Into his wife and killed Mrs. Eccles, j her foster mother. Templeton blamed Mrs. Eccles' j intervention with his plan at re- j conciliation with Mrs. Templeton for the shooting. ‘ When I wept to the Eccles’ I home, I had no Intention of shoot- ! ing any one," Templeton told authorities. "I took the pistol along j just to scare them.” He said he i had hoped to persuade his wife, I who left him two months ago, to ' return and live with him. "I was talking with her when j Mrs. Eccles came In the room,” i Templeton related. “She urged my I wife not to return to me. In a mo- I ment of madness I shot my wife In ! the arm, and then shot Mrs. Eccles.” After Mrs. Templeton was shot, | she ran from the home. Templeton j pursued her, she told police, and he shot her twice more before drag- : ging her to a barnyard. Authorities said Templeton would ■ be held without bail until cowt opened next Monday, when he will j be arraigned on first degree murder charges. WAGE CUT PLAN TO BE PUT IN EFFECT Sanitary Board Will Meet to Consider Immediate Operation. Instead of waiting until 1932 to j enforce a scale of graduated wages j for employes, members of the sanitary board will meet Tuesday to consider immediate operation of the reductions. The reduction program for the coming year was placed in the sanitary district’s budget that has been approved as part of the SI.OB city levy for 1932, pendin- approval of the state tax board. Sanitary district officials pointed out that by placing the reduction in effect now, the board will save between $9,000 and SIO,OOO the re- ! mainder of the year. Highest reductions are 10 per cent | affecyng the higher-paid employes of the department. BURMA MISSIONARY WILL GIVE ADDRESS The Rev. J. Lee Lewis to Be Heard in Garden Baptist Church. Opening work of the Baptist Christian Center, 164 North Blacsford street, the Rev. J. Lee Lewis, for thirteen years a missionaiy to Burme, will deliver a costume address at 7:30 p. m., Sept. 21 at the Garden Baptist church, New ATork and Bright streets. Mr. Lewis, who serves under appointment of the American Baptist Missionary Society, will be assisted by persons in native costumes. Program for the week has been outlined by Miss Willa B. Walker, superintendent of the center. Children will be enrolled for the fall and winter months’ program at the center during the week. WOMAN FALLS FROM HER INJURED Two Men Are Hurt While at Work; ! One Is Taken to Hospital. Falling out of bed early this morning, Mrs. Neva Welch, 806 North Delaware street, sustained side Injuries and was taken to city hospital. William Levins, 24, of 810 Har- j mon street, was injured Thursday I afternoon when a piece of wood he was chopping struck him on the ; head. His injuries were treated by | police sergeant Charles Weddle. Injured while working on a plan- j lng machine in the box factory at ; Kingan & Cos., Lester Brooks, 29, ! of 1537 English avenue, is recover- j ing from cuts and bruises at Methodist hospital today. PRESSMEN ASK FOR AID Positions Sought for Unemployed by Union Chiefs.
