GRANTS DELAY FOR DRIVER IN FATAIJRASH Theodore Geraghty to Be Given Trial Sept. 15; Fine Motorist. Another continuance In the auto accident case against Theodore Geraghty, 23, of 1244 North Illinois street, was granted by Municipal Judge William H. SheafTer Thursday afternoon. Trial of the young man on charges of manslaughter, drunkenness and operating an auto while drunk will be heard Sept. 15. Geraghty is alleged to have been the driver of an auto which crashed into a safety zone abutment at Pine and Washington streets Aug. 18, injuries received in the accident proving fatal to Arthur Frees, 45, of 120 West McCarty street, a passenger. Judgment of'sl and costs w'as suspended by ShaefTer in the case of Harley Morris, 43, address unknown, whose car was involved in an accident that resulted in serious injuries to Mrs. Clifford Anderson, 40, of 1858 Gent avenue, last week. The accident occurred at Morris and Harding streets. Morris was convicted on a reckless driving charge. William A. Surgeon, 1015 South Belle Vieu place, was bound over to the grand jury Thursday afternoon on a manslaughter charge. He is the driver of the car which crashed into another at Linden street and Pleasant Run parkway, resulting in mortal injuries to Adam Click, 78, of 2301 Hoyt avenue. CITY MAN ENDS LIFE IN HIS HOTEL ROOM Takes Poison After Informing Desk Clerk of His Intentions. After informing the clerk of the Brevort hotel that he intended to take his own life, Lawrence Goodwin, 27, of 2935 North Station street, went to his room and swallowed a quantity of poison, Thursday night. He died before medical aid could reach him. Goodwin left three notes. One was to his mother, Mrs. Harry Cook of the Station street address, another to Harry Moore, undertaker, and a third to the hotel clerk, asking him to inform Moore of his death. Relatives could assign on motive for the suicide, saying Goodwin left his home Saturday, en route to California. A cubic foot of solid gold weighs about 1,200 pounds troy weight.

STUDENTS OF CRIME HELPED ON MOVIE Experts of Criminology Aided in the Making of “Guilty Hands,” Opens Saturday at the Palace. TWO students of criminology were Joined in the making of "Guilty Hands,” a thrilling murder mystery drama which will open Saturday at the Palace with Lionel Barrymore planing the featured role. They were Bayard Veiller, noted dramatist, who wrote the story directly for the talkie screen, and W. S. Van Dyke, who directed it for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Veiller, known for such mystery plays as "The Thirteenth Chair” and “The Trial of Mary Dugan,” has obtained his unusual plots through his many years study of crime and criminal psychology. ' Van Dyke, a former newspaperman, has made an exhaustive study of
criminology and numbers among his close friends some of the nation's leading crime investigators. Between the two, they are said to have produced a screen mystery which sew anew mark for thrills, excitement and surprise. The story revolves about an attorney who murders his daughter’s fiance and reveals an amazing ingenuity in hiding his crime. The manner in which he is eventually exposed brings the plot to a startling and totally unexpected climax. Included In the cast are Kay Francis, Madge Evans, William Bakewell, C. Aubrey Smith, Polly Moran and Alan Mowbray. The balance of the program will include William T. Tilden 11, the world’s outstanding tennis champion, in the second picturization of the art of playing tennis, entitled "Volley and Smash,” in which the master of all tennis stars explains the fundamental and important points about tennis playing. Tammany howled and southern and midwest Democratic followers of Jie Governor chuckled. The investigation ran into technical difficulties with the law. a special session of the legislature was necessary to remedy that defect. Roosevelt called it. thus facing another Tammany threat. Further, he urged the correction in
the code asked by Samuel H. Seabury and the Republicans. Then, the Democrats asked an investigation of upstate Republican cities and counties. Roosevelt approved it Thursday for the same reason he approved of the New York City investigation. The Republicans, it is reported, may retaliate by blocking his program for relief of the unemployed.
