Borde, former Cuban military attache at Paris, was believed dead, a victim of rebel marksmen. Captain Terry also was said to have been wounded severely. Both officers landed tlieir bulletriddled airplane; safely at Camaguey fio’d. Private commercial companies in Cuba are said to be aiding the government, converting their planes into bombers. Rebels in the mountains were declared to be doing much damage to government planes which have returned after attacks with their wings and bodies perforated by rifle fire. Transport planes flying between the United States and Cuba received notice to fly from 8,000 to 10,000 feet above Oriente province. One squadron of six federal planes left Camaguey to bomb rebels in Oriente province. They failed to return, the private uncensored advices said, but one machine was found later, the pilot and bombers gone. Heavy skirmishing was reported at Holguin, in Oriente.

secretary of state at Washington by a delegation to be selected following expected adoption of the plan for an American cotton holiday by a conference here Friday. The delegation will leave for Washington immediately after that conference. The international holiday plan was revealed today by Governor Huey P. Long of Louisiana, who suggested that American growers produce no cotton in 1932 as a means of reducing the worlds cotton supply, and thus increasing prices. "I talked to Colonel Thomas J. Chadboume by long distance telephone in New York Wednesday night. It was he who perfected and put through the recently adopted production proration plan among sugar producing countries. “Chadboume assured me we would find other nations willing to co-operate to save the world cotton market from its present depression,’’ the Governor said.
STATE PASTOR DIESIN CRASH Frankton Minister Victim in Ohio Collision. Bu United Press FINDLEY. 0., Aug. 20.—The Rev. Chester Schwartz, 30, of Frankton. Ind., is dead today of injuries received when his car collided with another on the Lincoln highway, south of here. Mr. Schwartz, a Methodist minister, was motoring eastward on a vacation trip when the two cars, one driven by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hohnhorst of Cincinnati, crashed. The Cincinnati couple was injured, while the minister was killed instantly.
