"Sheriff, I did it,” officers said King blurted out after hours of questioning during which he was directly accused of the killing by Glenda. Reports of the girl’s accusation ipread throughout Colorado Springs and a crowd of nearly 1,000 milled excitedly around the jail when announcement of the confession was made. According to police, King said he Went to the park on a bicycle to ‘‘protect Glenda,” and found the pair. Palmer made a threatening move, and King shot him, father and daughter agreed. Relates Grewsome Ride Still living. Palmer was loaded Into his own automobile by Glenda and her father, and Glenda drove away. She said the youth bled to death slowly while she drove about through deserted streets debating whether to take him to a hospital. At one time Glenda was only a block from a hospital, she said. Then, she claimed, she went out Into the country and found her father and he concocted the story she told an hour later when she drove to a home in the residential section and declared a roughly dressed stranger killed Palmer and attacked her. Claim Self-Defense "I was just riding around Prospect lake on a bicycle when I saw Palmer’s car,” the officers said King declared. “I laid the bicycle on the grass and went toward the car. I saw my daughter and young Palmer in a compromising position and walked toward them. As I did so, Palmer jumped to his feet. He had a club in his hand. "I told him I did not intend to harm either of them, but he swung the club. I dodged. He grappled with me and I attempted to keep him away with the gun. As he came toward me the gun went off. I put the body in the car, told my daughter to take him to a hospital and rode home myself on the bicycle.” King said after the shooting he threw the revolver in Prospect Lake. Authorities sought it today.

balance sharp increases in the township poor fund levies fixed for next year. Reductions will be possible in Center, Decatur, Lawrence, Pike, Washington and Wayne townships. This will mean a 7-cent decrease in Lawrence, where the road levy will be 3 cents instead of 10 cents. Since poor relief tax for Lawrence remains unchanged, taxpayers there will benefit by a 7-cent decrease in the tax rate. Other reductions include a 7-cent drop in Wayne, from 9-10 to % cent in Center, from 5-10 to hit cent in Decatur, from 7 1 a cents to 7 cents in Pike and from IVz cents to 6 Vt
cents in Washington. The rate In Warren is the same, 5 cents, as last year. Wayne welcomes its decrease, because of a 11% cent hike in the levy for poor relief. Portion of that township lying in Indianapolis must pay a total tax of $2.97. Slight increases are evident in the road levies for Franklin and Perry townships.
