Make Fast Flight By United Pres* EDMONTON, Alta., Aug. 17. Pilots James Mattern and Nick Greener landed in Edmonton in a driving rain at 7:27 Thursday night after making a 1.800 mile nonstop flight from White Horse. Yukon territory, in 14 hours and 27 minutes. Mattern and Greener were flying the tri-motored plane they took to Alaska to refuel the monoplane Ft. Worth on the two unsuccessful attempts of Harold Jones and Reginal Robbins to make nonstop, refueling flights from Seattle to Tokio. They now are on their way back to Ft. Worth and said they would fly to Bismark, N. D., today if the weather cleared. Jones and Robbins have given up their Pacific flight Jhtempts for this year.

World Plane ‘On Block’ By United Press REDWOOD CITY, Cal., Aug. 7. While Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon Jr. were on a flight around the world today preparations were made to auction a biplane owned by them to satisfy a $1,058 court judgment. The judgment was given against the fliers July 10 in favor of the Pacific Airmotive Corporation, for "merchandise, work and labor.” Sheriff J. J. McGrath said today that the plane will be auctioned at the Curtiss-Wright field Tuesday. Breaks Flight Mark By United Press LONDON, Aug. 7.—J. A. Mollison, youthful Scottish flier, landed Thursday at Pevensey bay from Le Bourget airdrome at 2:30 p. m., breaking the Austra!ia-to-England flight record by more than a day. The previous record, held by C. W. A. Scott, was 1(1 days 23 hours. Mollison intended to proceed to Lympne as soon as possible, and to go from there to Croydon. Glides Three Hours By United Press ELMIRA, N. Y„ Aug. 7.—Martin Schempp, Pittsburgh, today held the best mark for sustained flight in a glider at this year’s national gliding and soaring contest. Schempp soared over the city for three hours Thursday, but his mark was four and a half hours less than the record set by Albert E. Hastings, Los Angeles, last year. Byrd on Vacation Hop By United Press BOSTON, Aug. 7.—Rear-Admiral Richard E. Byrd left Boston airport by Pan-American transport at noon today for Calais. Me., en route to Mt.
