MAY ROBSON HEADS CAST OF NEW MOVIE Famous Stage Actress Is Starred in “Mother’s Millions,” Which Opens Saturday at the Apollo. “TTE married you for your money!” That Is one of the oldest and truest 1 A and most fearsome accusations since civilization established our system of matrimony. How can a girl be certain that she isn’t being married for her money? How can parents train their children so that they can be self-reliant when they come into their majority, into their money, become of marriageable age, as their parents would like to have them? * It was because "Mother's Millions’’ dealt witlv these problems and because it faced them so fairly and squarely that May Robson, star of many Broadway successes, was induced to take the' leading role in
umvKniais just, proaucuon oi me new season. The mother in “Mother’s Millions’’ has two children. She is a very wealthy woman. The world thinks that she is concerned only with the amassing of wealth and with the destruction of her financial enemies i and opponents. Naturally, these, j too, take up a great deal of her time. But her major concerns were her two children, ner boy and her i girl. She wanted to make sure that the ! possession of wealth would not bias j their outlook on life, and did not serve as a lure to those who would make their wealth an objective. She wanted to guard her daughter from fortune hunters; she wanted to make it possible for her to meet
and fall 5n love with the right man. For her son she strove in every way to make him self-reliant. Though her means seemed at the moment to be utterly heartless, utterly unmaternal, they were dramatic and they served to bring into focus the tremendous mother love in this woman who dressed like Tenth avenue and talked like a Bowery politician. The supporting cast includes James (Jimmy) Hall, Frances Dade, Edward Breese and Lawrence Gray. Vitaphone Varieties and Fox Movietone News will round out the program. OIL MEN ‘GALL’ MURRAY BLUFF ‘Bring On Your Troops’ Is Reply to Price Demand. By United Prext OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., July 30.—0il operators throughout the Oklahoma fields declared today that Governor William H. (Alfalfa Bill) Murray would have to call out his troops if he expected to make good his threat to c:ose down all the wells in the state unless oil prices go up. Murray’s demand was that oil go up to $1 a barrel by Saturday. He said if it didn’t. He'd shut down the wells and call out his troops to keep them shut down. With oil selling in the great east Texas field at 10 cenis a barrel, scores of producers here declared Murray’s order was impossible and that they would fight it became they believed its sole result would

be to drive all purchasing companies out of the Oklahoma market. That Murray would carry out his threat, there was little doubt. Most of the producers in the state said they would fight the Governor’s drastic ruling with court actions. They declare it would be illegal for him to close their wells. Others, however, backed him up, explaining they couldn't make any money from their wells under present conditions. Calf Weighs 10 Pounds By Unitrd Prexs PLYMOUTH.
