W BARES SHE ORDAINED HER 'WHAT-A-MAN' Gave Him ‘Reverend’ Title Just Before Marriage, She Reveals. By United Trent LOS ANGELES. July 23.—The secret of how G. Edward <What a Man) Hudson got his title of ‘“reverend” became known today as a new suit charging bigamy was ■dded to the long list of troubles he has gotten Into since his recent marriage to Mrs. Minnie Kennedy, the evangelist. ‘‘l ordained him myself. Just before the ceremony,” explained Mrs. Kennedy, whose annulment suit against Hudson was scheduled foi b hearing today. The complaint charging bigamy 3vas issued Wednesday night against “What-a-Man” in Cowlitz county, Washington. The addition of it to the list leaves him facing: 1. Mrs Kennedy's annulment suit. 2. A suit for divorce filed by Mrs. Margaret Newton-Hudson, who asks S2OO monthly alimony. 3. A $250,000 suit for breach of promise filed by Mrs. Ethel Harbert. 4. The bigamy charges. With all these troubles now’ officially on file, Hudson today was reported missing, although he previously had promised sheriff's officers he would surrender when the bigamy charge was filed.

JIM AND WALT WILL RETURN TO LYRIC Dei Zelaya, Noted Pianist and Humorist, Will Open Saturday on the Same Bill with Radio Stars. TWO of Hoosierdom's favorite radio sons, namely Jim and Walt, are to be the big noise on the Lyric vaudeville bill opening Saturday. With these likable boys will be five other RKO acts and “Gold Dust Gertie,” a new Warner Bros, and Vitaphone picture starring Winnie Lightner, and Olsen and Johnson. Jim and Walt will best be remembered for their entertaining over the local radio station WFBM in years past. Today they are one of the mesfr popular artists on WLW in Cincinnati. Jim and Walt are Indiana’s own, having spent most of their days in this state, singing ands.making merry over WFBM.

Their first personal appearance was at the Lyric a little less than a year ago, when they scored an instantaneous hit. The boys have a brand-new program of songs, stories and musical numbers which they have prepared especially for their engagement at the Lyric next week. Another act of importance on the Lyric vaudeville bill for the coming week is Don Zelaya, whose billing states he is “A Philosophical Pianist.” Zelaya is the son of the late ex-president of Nicaragua, Jose Santos Zelaya. Zelaya has been engaged in concert and theatrical work intermittently for eighteen years. While the piograms of Don Zelaya are mostly classical, he injects a certain amount of quiet popular music into them, along with his unique humor and wit. He applies numerology to the piano keyboard, and obtains both humorous and convincing results concerning the mystic number seven. Among the other acts on the bill are Joe Herbert and his “Personalities Revue,” a group of seven mu-

sical comady entertainers; Joe May and Dotty present “Laughs From Abroad”; Charles Carrer, a trickster, and some black art by’ Lloyd Nevada and company. “Gold Dust Gertie” is a comedy drama of bathing suit business and romance that finds its way into it. Winnie Lightner is the star and has the assistance of Olsen and Johnson, famous vaudeville clowns, in her funmaking and romancing. Indianapolis theaters today offer: Mrs. Leslie Carter in “The Shanghai Gesture” at English's, Blanche Sweet at the Lyric, “White Shoulders” at the Ohio; “Three Who Loved” at the Circle, “Son of India” at the Palace. “Hush Money” at the Apollo, “The Night Angel” at the Indiana. and burlesque at the Mutual. D. Osborn, La Porte county attorney, and his brother, Lee Osborn, representing Judge Harry Crumpacker of La Porte superior court. Judge Crumpacker is restrained from acting in the Stephenson habeas corpus case due to a temporary writ of prohibition issued by the supreme court, but opposed by Chief Justice Clarence R. Martin. In a memorandum setting forth his opposition, Judge Martin asserted that the high court can only restrain habeas corpus in time of rebellion, under the Constitution. Today’s brief sets out that the court doesn’t even have that right and can only act on appeal after the lower court has decided.
