MAYR EXPLAINS LEACHOUSTING ‘Politics Gets Jobs—But i You Must Work.’ •politics does obtain places In this department, but performance is necessary to keep them.” This statement of policy was made by Frank Mayr Jr., secretary of state, today in commenting on the recent discharge of Matt Leach, Gary license investigator for his department. Hue and cry has been raised that Leach was let out because he i§ an ardent supporter of Paul McNutt as Democratic candidate for Governor. Mayr's forces are listed as anti-Mc-Nutt. Mayr asserted that McNutt recommended Leech and that was how he obtained the job, but that he was discharged because he refused to work at it. Heat Causer.
