Heffernan announced' today that he has refused an invitation to La Fiesta De Los Angeles. Writing to Isidore B. Dockweiler, president, he declared that he will not enter California while Tom Mooney remains in prison. Dockweiler had invited Heffernan to the festivities commemorating the 150th aniversary of the founding of Los Angeles and suggesting that he name an official delegation from Youngstown. Heffernan replied that not only will he decline to set foot in California while Mooney remains a prisoner, but that he will endeavor to persuade others to remain away. “I think,” his letter says, “that should be the attitude of every one who believes in justice. California stands as a disgrace to America.”
