WOMEN HOLD OVER FIFTH OF STATE'S JOBS 236,014 Gainful Workers Says Report of Census Bureau. By Time* Special WASHINGTON, June 19.—Mere than one-fifth of the gainfully employed persons In Indiana are ttomen. A report by the census bureau today revealed that of the state's total 1930 population of 3,238.503, the “gainful workers" numbered 1,231,177. And of these 236,014 were females. The state’s million and a quarter workers were listed in the following classifications: Agriculture 250.150 Forestry and flshlni? 1 435 Extraction of minerals 24.C34 Manufacturing and mechanical industries 440.515 Transportation 116 401 Trade 180.185 Public service (those not elsewhere classified 1 20 139 Professional service 84 419 Domestic and personal service... Industry not specified 35.023 Those listed under agriculture included 166,429 farmers and 81,619 larm laborers. The major groups under manufacturing were 45,568 in blast furnaces and steel rolling mills; 70,370 in other iron and steel industries; 61.339 in the building industry; 45,372 in auto factories and repair shops, and 25,901 in food and allied industries. OSCAR A. KIMBER, 58, SHOE DEALER, DIES Funeral for City Business Man to Be Held Saturday. Last rites for Oscar A. Kimber, 58, who died Thursday at his home, 3060 North Meridian street, will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday in the Flanner Sc Buchanan mortuary. Burial will be in Crown Hilll cemetery. Mr. Kimber was associated with his son, Clair Kimber, in the operation of the Penn-Wash boOtery. Born in Muncie, Mr. Kimber came to Indianapolis as a boy. He had been in business at the present location of the store for forty years. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Martha Kimber; the son; a. sister, Mrs. Otis Bevis of Los Anegels, and a brother. Arthur S. By United Pregg LOS ANGELES, June 19.—Police searched today for Rudolph Friml, prominent musician and composer, on a warrant charging failure to provide for his 19-year-old daughter, Marie Lucille Friml. The warrant was issued at the request of the girl’s grandmother, Mrs. Emil Baruch, with whom she has lived since infancy. The girl Is ill, Mrs. Earuch said, and needs medical attention. Friml is under contract to a local motion picture studio and resides in a Beverly Hills hotel. Mrs. Friml is in the east.
