States of America mas opened of* flclally here today. In special executive session the committee on marriage, divorce and remarriage voted'to eliminate all reference to birth control In its report to the general assembly.' Action of the committee followed protest from leaders of the church. Heated objections to the proposal to approve birth control and dissemination of related knowledge had been received by the committee. The first business sesison was to be held this afternoon with election of a moderator as the principal business. The Rev. Lewis Seymour Mudge of Philadelphia, stated clerk, probably will be unopposed for the office. Withdrawal of the recommendation of birth control left the problems of church union as the outstanding question before the assembly.
