WORLD PARLEY MAPS WAR ON DOPE TRAFFIC Delegates for Scores of Countries Confer at Geneva Meeting. By United pret * GENEVA, May 27.—Fight of the civilized world on the drug traffic—one of the greatest of international “rackets”—will be taken up today by delegates from fifty-three countries, including the United States. The conference, under auspicies of the league of nations, is the most extensive effort yet for limitation of narcotic drugs to an amount necessary for medical and scientific needs. The United States, it is conceded, is the only country that successfully has limited production within its boundaries. The American system of limitation of manufacture, may be the basis of a world-wide plan. Previous limitation efforts failed, largely because of demand by Turkey that it be permitted to produce nearly a third of the entire world’s narcotics supply. WORLD AUTHORS MEET Writers From 20 Nations Assemble in Paris to “Defend Interests.” PARIS, May 27.—Literary lights from twenty nations, speaking a babel of tongues, assembled today to discuss the creation of a worldwide federation to “defend the interests of novelists and other writers.”
