COUNTY GOING AFTER SIOO,OOO COURIMIOSTS Collector Named to Get Delinquent Fees; to Start June 1. Pinal arrangements to start collection of more than SIOO,OO delinquent court costs, due the county, were made today following appointment of a special clerk to aid County Clerk Glenn 3. Ralston in the task. Ralston appointed Charles E. Steinwender, 1823 Broadway, an abstractor for thirty years, to conduct the collection. He will start sending notices of delinquent costs June 1. The county council appropriated S6OO for purpose of collecting costs during the next three months and is expected to extend this appropriation at the September council meeting, if results are satisfactory. Ralston had asked for a six months’ appropriation, totaling $1,200. Charles Ettinger, chief deputy clerk, will have direct charge of collecting the costs, many of which have been owing since 1910. Most of the amount is due on municipal court cases, Ettinger declared. Fifteen days time will be given persons to pay after receipts of the first notices. Failure to respond in this period will cause the clerk’s office to submit fee bills to Sheriff Charles L. Sumner for collection.

NEW DELAY FACED ON STEVE'S APPEAL

Further delay in the supreme court decision of the D. C. Stephenson appeal in the Madge Ooerholtzer murder loomed today, due to the filing late Tnursday of another petition for writ of error coram nobis. This petition is filed as an orig- j inal action in the supreme court by Gary attorneys for the one-time kian dragon, now serving life sentence at the Indiana state prison, Michigan City. It is Similar to petitions filed in the past, but names one Frank L. Dobbs as a gunman hired by Eiran Lesley Evans for $2,000 to shoot Stephenson should he taka the witness stand in his own defense at the trial in Hamilton circuit court. Petitions for writ of error coram nobis have been based largely on the grounds that Stephenson failed to take the stand through for his life, and if permitted to do so now could prove himseu guauess. Points in a former petition were thrown out by the high court and the petition itself was withdrawn by
