STATE WARNING GIVEN SCHOOL BUS JRIVERS Strict Regulations Issued by Secretary Mayr’s Office. Rules for operation of school busses and warning that, unless they are obeyed, drivers’ licenses will be revoked were cent to school superintendents and trustees throughout the state today by Secretary of State Frank Mayr Jr. The regulations were drafted by Walter V. Mentzer, safety director, in the motor vehicle department of Mayr’s office. Co-operation of school officials in seeing that these rules are carried out is asked. •All school hacks are to be painted yellow and kept freshly painted. “School Hack Stop’’ signs must be placed on the front and back of each bus. These may be bought from the Indiana state prison for 60 cents, the Mayr letter states. Warning Is Given Emphasis is placed on the necessity of permitting no one to drive a bus under 21 and the warning that licenses will be revoked if this Is permitted. The more important safety rules for bus drivers to follow are set forth as follows: Bring.ne the bus to a complete stop at every railroad crossing and at through roads. Children are not to be permitted to set on or oft buses while the cars are In motion. All children must be on the Inside of the bus and seated belore the bus starts. Buses must not be driven on the wrong side o t the hlcrhway for loading or unloading. Children's hands, arms and bodies should be kept inside of the bus at all times. Never pass another car on a hill or curve. Use lawful sienals Indicating to the Other fellow what you are going to do. Bicycle riders or roller skaters shall not bo permitted to hang on to the bus It is presumed that the trustees will see that the buses are kept in good mechanical condition at all times. School hack drivers also are requested to report to the department the license numbers of motorists that pass school buses while children are getting on or off. Drivers are not to permit children to step from the bus in the anticipation that the motorist will stop, but to make sure the child will be safe before he or she attempts to leave the bus. KEEP UP CLUBBER HUNT Detectives Admit They Have No Clews in Murder Search. Hunt for the attacker of Mrs. Mollie Earll, 26, of 1401 Bellefontaine street, who died last Sunday from skull fracture, continued today, although detectives admitted they had no clews to guide them. Similarity between the fatal attack on Mrs. Earll and the attempted robbery of the residence of Mrs: Hazel Kolcheck, 2823 Cornell avenue, by a Negro while she sat alone in the dining room Wednesday night, led police to believe they might capture Mrs. Earll’s slayer in the Negro section of northeastern Indianapolis. BLACKMAILER FOILED Two Men Flee Posses After Threats to Wealthy Land Owner. By United Press SHELBYVTLLE, Ind., May 1.—An attempt to blackmail Roy McDaniel, wealthy Waldron farmer, was foiled when a member of his family exchanged shots with two men who called for a package of money at a designated spot. Posses which had formed over the country failed, however, to capture the-would-be blackmailers. McDaniel said that the last of a series of blackmail letters demanded $4,000. Posses organized by sheriffs of Shelby, Rush and Decatur counties awaited at the appointed spot, where a bundle of blank paper was placed as a decoy. The shots were fired as the blackmailers backed into a thicket to escape.

The second proposal, submitted Thursday to Mayor Sullivan and to Henry L. Dithmer, committee chairman, suggests operation of the Citizens Gas Company by the Marion County Gas Corporation, a newly formed company. The proposal, presented by William G. Woolf oik, Chicago, president of the Marlon county company, provides for the company financing acquisition of the Citizens company 'for the city, operating the utility and paying the city a fixed yearly rental, together with a percentage of net income.
