TWO PLANES TO RACE IN DASH AROUND WORLD Ten-Day Record Is Sought by Four Aviators in Girdling Globe. By United Press LOS ANGELES, April 23.—Honor and wealth await the winner of an airplane race around the world, which will start from here, probably a week from Friday. A ten-day record is the object. The competitors are John Henry Mears, who has twice broken the around-the-world record; Vance Breese, Wiley Post, veteran speed Pilot, and Harold Gatty, who attempted a trans-Pacific flight with Lieutenant Harold Bromley. Posts reward will be $20,000 if he completes the around-the-world flight. F, C. Hall, Oklahoma City oil magnate, owner of the plane, has promised that amount, Mears said he did not plan to make a nonstop trans-Pacific flight tor the $25,000, offered by a Japanese newspaper for such a feat, hut will share in commercial contracts. Post and Gatty will fly together as will Mears and Breese. Hoosier Writes Play By Times Special „ MARION, Ind., April 23.—A play, ‘Her Supporting Cast,” written by Harold Sherman, former Marion newspaper man, will be produced May 4 at the Biltmore theater in New York. Sherman has written several books which deal with the life of high school athletes.

LARGE FAMILY SAVES DRUNK DRIVER TERM Clyde Carmin Loses Right to Operate Car; His Fourth Offense. “Hiding behind the skirts of his wife and children,” Clyde Carmin, 37, of 1624 William street, scored another —his fourth ia a year—victory over Dante Justice today. In municipal court on charges of driving while drunk, Carmin admitted to John Rochford, judge pro tern., that he had been before the court three times previously on similar charges in the last twelve months. “And you’ve got out by hiding behind the skirts of your wife and children?” Rochford asked. Carmin admitted this. Today Rochford took away his driver’s license for a year, but suspended a farm sentence of ninety days and a $25 fine when Carmin’s wife and three of his seven children appeared before the bench. Carmin was charged with sideswiping an auto driven by H. H.

TALK NUTRITION WORK Tuberculosis Group Discusses More Facilities at Camp. Increase in, facilities and service at the Marion county child nutrition camp near Bridgeport were discussed today at a meeting of the executive committee of the Marion County Tuberculosis Association and its nutrition camp committee at the Lincoln. The organization will co-operate in observance of National Child Health week, May 1 to 8.
