Council to Convene at \ Bloomington More than fifteen Indianapolis women motored to Bloomington today to attend the convention of the May Wright Sewall Indiana Council of Women, which will convene at 1 today at the Graham hotel, and last through Wednesday, Mrs, Albert L. Pauley, president, will preside at the executive luncheon, which will be followed by reports of the following officers: Mesdames Edward Niles, recording secretary; Edna Hatfield Edmondson, corresponding secretary; Fred Lucas, treasurer, and G. G. Derbyshire, auditor. At 3 the following standing committees will report: Mesdames Davide Ross, motion pictures; Pauley, admission; Allen T. Fleming, citizenship; George Edwards, conference; Derbyshire, education; Mollie V. Epler, immigration; J. P. Hoster, patriotic instruction; Miss Genevieve Brown, industrial relations, and Virginia E. Jenckes, law enforcement. Indorsing to be Discussed Mrs. T. J. Louden will speak on the international council meeting in Vienna last summer, to which she was a delegate. Charles Metzer will discuss “Photoplay Indorsing.” Professor J. J. Robinson and Mrs. Florence Riddick Boys will be dinner speakers tonight at the banquet at the First Christian church. Wednesday, after a drive through Bloomington, the sessions will be held at the Christian church. Reports will be continued as follows: Mesdames E. C. Gibson, permanent peace; W. F. Eberhart, public health; Bloomfield Moore, publicity; Edna H. Edmonson, bulletin; W. F. Holmes, ways and means; Misses Mae Marcum Jacobs, social hygiene, and Merica Hoagland, extension. The presidents’ luncheon will be held at the First Methodist church, with the Bloomington council hostess to the visitors. Mrs. McWhirter to Speak At 1:30 Mrs. Felix McWhirter will speak on “Better Homes in America.” Following this, the council presidents will present their reports. The anniversary hour, arranged by Miss Merica Hoagland, will be in appreciation of the pioneer women of Indiana, and what the Indiana woman has done along social, educational and patriotic lines. Among Indianapolis women who will attend the meetings are Mesdames Pauley, Niles, Derbyshire, Hoster, Eberhart, Holmes, McWhirter, Ross, Fleming, A. B. Gllck, Pearl Krause, Edwards, J. F. Matthews, Joseph A. Neill and Moore. MARY BAUR WILL WED NEW YORKER Among Indiana engagements of Interest is that of Miss Mary Baur, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baur, Terre Haute, whose marriage to Raymond P. Harris, New York, will take place soon, at the home of her parents. She is the nelce of Mrs. Jacob Baur, Chicago business woman and society leader, and of Mrs. Eugene Debs, widow of th& late Socialist leader. Se is a cousin of Miss Rosemary Baur, Chicago's “richest girl.” FINE ARTS GROUP TO HOLD MEETING Fine arts study group and art appreciation section of the American Assocaition of University Women will hold its sixth meeting with Mrs. Blanche Stillson at the children’s museum Thursday from 10 to 11:15. Four more classes will follow, the course closing May 21, They are: April 23, impressionism and neoimpressionism; April 30, Cezanne and the post-impressionists; sMay 7, cubism, futurism and other movements; May 14, modern conservatives; May 21, American modernists. Wedding Is Announced By Times Special KOKOMO. April 20.—The wedding of Miss Edna Applegate of Chicago and Arnold Mcllrath of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been announced by Mrs. H. E. Stevens, mother of the bride. The wedding took place April 8 in Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Mcllrath are visiting friends here for a few days. They will make their home in Pittsburgh. Hostess at Party Miss Ruth Vetter was hostess Saturday night for a surprise birthday party in honor of Miss Virginia Mae Potter at 1140 Pleasant street. Fishing the Air
A program of aeml-classical music will be offered by Harry Tucker and his Hotel Barclay orchestra during the tea hour. 5:15 to 5:30 p. m. Tuesday, over WFBM and the Columbia chain. The Henry-George bUck-ont minute drama presentation Tuesday scheduled on WFBM and the Columbia chain will be dedicated to Kansas City, Mo. Henry and George will take the air at 8 p. m., with a continuity written around a ristt to the city. The program will be produced by Tom Tarrant, who has written comedy sketches for the Earl Carroll Vanities, Sbubert shows and others. Berlin. A. of School 87 will meet at 8 p. m, April 30. for a fathers’ night program. Paul Stetson, superintendent of the Indianapolis public schools, will be the rpeaker. The Mothers’ chorus will sing and a group of children will give original poems and songs. State Group Elects By United Press LAFAYETTE, Ind., April 21.—R. Clyde White, Indiana university, was elected president of the Indiana Association of Economists and Sociologists, at the close of its annual meeting at Purdue univerity. Professor White succeeds Dr. J. A. Estey, Purdue. F. R. Ormes, Wabash college, was elected vicepresident, and C. B. Camp, Butler university, secretary-treasurer. Butler was selected as the place for the 1932 meeting.
