Memorial day program at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ monument will be under supervision of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Services at 8:30 a. m. at the monument May 30 will be followed by a parade in which many organizations of Indianapolis will take part. Two memorial services will be held before the holiday proper. One will l?e May 24 at Meridian street bridge over Fall creek to honor sailors and aviators; another will be held May 29 in the Grove of Remembrance in Garfield drive. Organizations and heads of the Memorial day committees are; Monument services. Veterans of Foreign Wars; automobiles, American Legion; parade, Colonel Willard S. Boyle; transportation, William A. Edwards; dinner, Mrs. Belle Kiser; flags, E. L. Miller; flowers, Mrs. Ella Allmond, and honor roll, Mrs. Augusta Stratford. The committee to take flowers to veterans unable to attend the ceremonies will be headed by Mrs. Fern Robers. Services and ceremonies will be held at the various cemeteries during the day with the foremost at Crown Hill at 3 p. m. Those in charge of arrangements for observances at cemeteries are: Mrs. Belle Kiser, Wilson C. Oren, Crown Hill cemetery; Mrs. Madge Fraay, Mt. KOKOMO ELKS HOME ORDERED TO BE SOLD Court Decree Given on Petition of Elks Realty Receivers. By Times Special KOKOMO. Ind., April 18.—Sale of the Elks Club building was ordered in a decree signed in Howard circuit court by Judge Joe Cripe. Petition for sale was made by Solon A. Enloe of Indianapolis and Don P. Strode, receivers for the Elks Realty Company. It is proposed to dispose of the building, appraised at $40,000, within twenty-one days. The lodge has taken over furniture and other furnishings through payment of S6OO to the receivers. The club was built several years ago at a cost of over SIOO,OOO. COLUMBUS MASONIC REMODELING STARTS St John’s Order Heme Improvements to Cost $46,000. By Times Special COLUMBUS, Ind., April 20.—Remodeling of St. John’s Lodge 20, F. & A. M., was started today. Several months will be required for completion of the $46,000 improvement, the building not to be ready for occupancy until early in the fall, according to the terms of the contract. Donald P. Shinn, master of the lodge, stated no definite decision had been reached on' a meeting place for the lodge during the remodeling program. GRADUATION PLANNED Hospital Heads Arrange Ceremony for Nurses June 4. Plans for graduation exercises for the nurses’ training school at city hospital were being arranged today by Dr. William A. Doeppers, superintendent, following action of the health board in setting the ceremony for June 4. Contract for approximately 12,000 tons of coal for the hospital was awarded by the board to the Indianapolis Coal Company at $2.40 a ton. H. G. Fisher Company won contract for a diethermic machine for the hospital on a bid of $595.43. Miss Qeneva Wagner, clerk, was transformed to social service department secretary, suceeding Miss Bonnie Moffit, resigned. PYTHIAN HEADS TO MEET Marlon County Group Heads Plan Session at Danville. MEMORIAL RITES SET Oaklandon Service Post to Celebrate June 7. Outstanding activity on Oaklandon Service Post’s calendar is a Memorial day program tentatively planned for June 7 at L O. O. F. cemetery, Oaklandon. Post meeting tonight will be held at McCordsville high school. Refreshments will, be served and an interesting program is being arranged. Final performance of “SevenEleven Regiment,” minstrel show, is scheduled for April 28 in McCordsville high school. A memorial to Gladstone Newhouse will be dedicated at the regular monthly business meeting of the post and auxiliary unit in the Legion rooms at Oaklandon. Last of a series of benefit card parties will be given at Oaklandon Odd Fellows hall, May 8.

Parade, Tablet Unveiling to Feature Ceremony at English's. Furthering of plans for a Mother’s day program at English opera house May 10, will be the principal topic at tonight’s meeting of Indianapolis Eagles aerie. One of the features of the Mother's day Vprcgram will be a parade immediately preceding unveiling of a tablet honoring Frank E. Hering of South Bend. The parade is being arranged by Secretary Wilbur H. Miller. A. J. Voigt will be marshal. Drum Corps to March Among aeries which have already accepted invitations to participate are those at Elkhart, Newcastle, Michigan City, Anderson, Brookville, Kendallville, Frankfort, Columbus, Clinton, Goshen, Brazil, Richmond and Lebanon. Local Moose drum corps will be in line. Cincinnati Eagles are planning to send a delegation by special train. President J. Pierce Cummings, head of the general committee forthe day, announces that the reception committee will include Representative Louis Ludlow, who was initiated by Indianapolis aerie several months ago. Inscription on Tablet Inscription on the tablet to be unveiled at English opera house is as follows; “On this site, Sunday, Feb. 7. 1904, the first known public plea for a nation-wide observance of Mother’s day was made by Frank E. Hering, teacher, orator, humanitarian. In commemoration of Mother’s day and in honor of its beloved founder, the Fraternal Order of Eagles erects this tablet May 10, 1931.” Degree to Be Conferred Third degree work will be conferred by Brookside lodge 818 at a district association meeting arranged by Brightwood lodge 655 at I. STATE RED MEN CONTINUE DRIVE FORJEMBERS Degree Work to Be Feature of Grant County Session at Marion. Red Men of Indiana are continuing their campaign for members in various parts of the state. Reports of meetings held during the past week indicate that attendance and number of r.ew members has surpassed expectations of great chiefs who have been in charge. Grant county meeting Wednesday night at Marion will be held under auspices of Miami Tribe 92 of that city. Degree work will be featured. Large delegations from Tribes in Sweester, Rigdon, Marion, Gas City, Lagro and Matthews expect to attend. At the last meeting of the Grant coun<V organization, George W. Stevens of Sweester was elected president and William Ringer was elected vice-president. Other newly installed officers are Everett Flemming, secretary of Marion Tribe, elected secretary and Leighton Deal, treasurer. Last of a series of district meeting directed by the Great council of Indiana will be held Thursday night at Evansville. Twenty-five tribes of Posey, Pike, Gibson, Dubois, Perry and Vanderburg counties will be represented at this meeting. Session will be in charge of Paul A. Meyer of Wahkee tribe who will be assisted by Clarence Rupp, deputy great sachem from District 20. Third degree will be conferred at Bloomington, Saturday night on a large class of candidates gathered during the past three weeks. The re-organized degree staff of Arizona tribe, Bloomington, will exemplify the work under direction of Harry Robinson. This staff is considered one of the outstanding teams in the state. Commerce Associations to Meet Annual meeting of the National Association of State Chambers of Commerce will be held at French Lick June 3 and 4. John E. Fredrick of Kokomo, president of the Indiana state chamber, is president of the national association.

Super-excellent Masters’ degree, one of the most dramatic degrees in this branch of the Masonic order, will be presented under auspices of Indianapolis Council 2, Royal Select Masters, at Raper Commandery asylum of the Masonic temple, North and Illinois streets, at 7:30 Saturday night. Alexander Jacobsen
For fifty years a member of the Knights of Pythias, Alexander Jacobsen, state secretary, International Credit Association, who was 81 on March 17, was initiated into the order in Huron, S. D., whev Dakota was a territory. He was the last grand chancellor of South Dakota before it became a state in 1889 and participated in the amalgamation of two grand lodges when Oklahoma and Indian territories became a state. During all these years he has been active in the order and even now participates in lodge duties. Jacobsen was recently elected by the supreme palace of the Princess of Syracuse, a Pythian boy organization, to the office of guard captain. He retains his membership in Huron, S. D., but is affiliated with Nineteenth Century Lodge 470 of Indianapolis.
COUNCILS TO MEET Columbus Pocahontas Will Sponsor Initiation Ceremony. By Times Special COLUMBUS, Ind., April 20. More than 600 members are expected here Tuesday for the district meeting of Pocahontas lodges, Red Men of America, sponsored by the Columbus lodge. Meetings to begin at noon will close with a night session at which a class of eight candidates will be initiated. Nineteen councils are included in the district. > Forty great chiefs will take part in the session. KNIGHT TEMPLARS TO HOLD CONCLAVE
Special Train Will Carry Hoosier Delegates to Tri-Yearly Session. Indiana Knights Templar are expected to turn out in greater numbers than ever before for the triennial session of the United States at Minneapolis, Minn., June 20 to 26. A state brass band, several drill teams and a special trainload of members will all be out to win prizes for drill and showing in the grand parade. A special train carrying Indiana Sir Knights to the conclave will leave Indianapolis June 20 and will pick up members on the way. Another section will leave Ft. Wayne the same day; the two sections will join at Chicago. Sub-Drill Teams Entered Special hotel reservations are being arranged by W. W. Suckow of Franklin. For those motoring to Minneapolis, ample parking space is being provided, convenient to the places of the triennial entertainment. Drill teams of Raper Commandery and Fort Wayne Commandery 4 have been entered in the prize contests; others will enter later. The teams have been preparing for some time for the occasion and hope to carry off honors. Boat Trip Arranged A preliminary dinner at the Minneapolis Athletic Club for members of the general committee will open the encampment. Competitive drills will start Wednesday, June 24, and continue until all teams have taken part and been judged. For those wishing to return by boat, a trip has been planned from Duluth to Port Arthur, Ontario, through, the locks at Saulte Sts. Marie to Detroit, where trains will be waiting. Another return trip is offered through the Black Hills to Yellowstone Park, then to Salt Lake City, Utah. '
The Sweepers One hundred twenty-five pinafore-clad members of the American Legion will parade down Meridian street to the Soldiers and Sailors monument and sweep the south steps at ;6:30 tonight. Bruce P. Robinson post lost in the annual membership drive so tonight they will sweep while more fortunate members give good advice on the best way to handle a broom.

FIFTY INITIATED INTO K, OF P, AT SOUTH BEND Royal Vizier W. F. Qualls Head of New Temple in Order. First initiatory ceremonials for fifty Knights of Pythias candidates were held at the new Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan temple in South Bend Saturday night. William F. Qualls, royal vizier of northern Indiana, is head of the temple. Since October, more than seventyfive meeting of the various K. of P. districts have been held. Last of the series will be at Franklin Friday when District 15, Marion and Johnston counties, will convene. Rank of knight will be conferred by the Franklin group assisted by Pluto team from Capitol City Lodge 97 of Indianapolis. Grand Chancellor Colin V. Dunbar and Deputy Imperial Prince Carl H. Mitchell of Indianapolis will attend as honor guests. Plans for a Pythian Chautauqua and mass convention of all departments and auxiliaries of the order were discussed at a meeting in Cincinnati Saturday. Local Pythian uniformed organizations will take part in a mammoth parade which will be the high point of a week of spectacular festivities. The international convention will be held the week of Aug. 10.
