Mrs. Hayes Is Honored by Sorority Delta Zeus of Indiana honored one of the founders of the sorority, Mrs. O. H. Hayes, Evanston, 111., at the annual state luncheon held today at the Columbia Club with the Indianapolis Alumnae Association of DelU Zeta as the hostess group. At the speakers' table, with Mrs. Hayes, were seated other honor guests, Mrs. John Pease, Cincinaati, national editor of the Lamp, publication of the sorority; Mrs. Kenneth Crawford, Louisville, Ky.; officers of the alumnae asociatlon, and presidents of the four college chapters in Indiana, Misses Jane Isackson, De Pauw; Jeanette, Duryee, Indiana; Marie Vandiver, Franklin, and Mary Elizabeth Thumma, Butler. Girls Distribute Favors The luncheon tables were decorated with center plateaus of Killarney roses, the sorority flower, ferns and candles. Girls dressed in garden frocks in pastel shades distributed the favors, which were crystal, necklaces in pastel shades. During the luncheon Mrs. Frank Weber, harpist, played, and between courses college and sorority songs were sung by groups representing the various chapters. Following the luncheon each college chapter presented a stunt, carrying out the theme of a tournament of roses. Approximately 250 alumnae and active members of Delta Zeta attended the luncheon. The state dance will be held to-' night at the Columbia Club. The ballroom will be arranged like a cabaret, with tables reserved for the dancers. Floor Show to Be Given
At 11:30 a trio from the Delta Tau Delta fraternity will give a group of songs, and later a professional floor show will be given. Tables for bridge will be arranged for those who care to play, in charge of Mrs. Robert Armstrong. Music will be provided by Harry Dickinson's Woodstock Club orchestra. The general committee in charge of arrangements for the day is composed of: Mrs Robert Miller, general chairman; Mrs. Alfred Shotwell, reservations; Mrs. George Davis, program; Mrs. H. E. Delta Alpha Will Elect at Club Session Officers will be elected by the Delta Alpha Club of the Third Christian church on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. C. Morris, 610 East Thirty-second street, following the report of the nominating committee, which is composed of Mesdames R. D. Barnes, R. W. Lookabill and E. C. Sappenfield. Charles F. Hansen, organist at the Second Presbyterian church, will talk on “Three Hundred Years of Music in America.’’ The talk will be illustrated by a musical program. A group of duets, representing the colonial period, will be sung by Mrs. Hazel Hill, soprano,, and Miss Marjorie G. Alexander, contralto, in costume. The Indiana period will be illustrated by a musical reading by Mrs. E. J. Ellsworth, in costume, accompanied by Mrs. D. L. Conner. Mrs. Eleanor Watson Woodfin, violinist, and Miss Bernice Houck, pianist, will play numbers typical of the American Negro and the modern ballad. Assistant hostesses wil be Mesdames John W. Society to Give Fund Musicale Mutual Service Association will hold a musicale Thursday night, April 30, at the Civic theater. Proceeds will be used to further the work of the Mutual Service Foundation whose trustees include Mrs. Walter Mayer, Misses Clara Given, Helen Clayton, Alice Siloway, Olive Rigel and Josephine English, chairman. The foundation is a trust fund established by the association in 1927, the interest of which is used to promote the welfare and relieve the needs of self-supporting women now or hereafter residing in Marion county. Maintenance and living quarters have been provided in two cases, and assistance was given in one instance during a critical eye operation. Persons have been assisted in moving to a different climate and a business was established among other cases cared for during the past year. At this time the principal fund has reached $21,500 and is growing. Miss Thelma Chisholm, Seattle, Wash., inspector general of Kappa Delta sorority, was the honor guest at the annual state luncheon held today at the Columbia Club. The program, in charge of Mrs. Russell, was arranged to represent the sorority’s publication, and toasts and stunts by the chapters were in keeping with this idea. Following a welcome by the toastmistress, Miss Chisholm brought greetings from the national organization, and gave a brief talk. Other numbers were a pirate dance by Misses Virginia Ritz, Juliana Gardner and Georgette Rogge of the De Pauw chapter, and a stunt, “The Evolution of a Kappa Delta,” by the Indiana chapter. The musical program included a vocal duet by Misses Jean Morris and Dorothy Smith; a group of songs by Miss Marjorie Alexander, and a piano solo by Miss Carol Sayre. The entire group sang sorority songs. Moving pictures of the dedication of Kappa Delta’s memorial at Framville, Va., and the recent convention were shown as the closing feature.
