JAPAN'S ROYAL TRAVELERS PAY ACADEMY VISIT Prince, Bride Walk Down Washington Monument Steps for Lark. # By United Press WASHINGTON. April 17.—A day of honeymoon sightseeing for. Prince and Princess Takamatsu of Japan culminated Thursday night in a formal reception at the Mayflower hotel, in which nearly 2,000 persons participated. The reception followed a formal dinrter given by the Japanese ambassador and Madame Debuchi. Today the prince and his bride were to motor to Annapolis to inspect the naval academy. Thursday the prince, who with the princess and a retinue of officials, reporters and others had gone to the tidal basin to see the cherry blossoms, decided itt would be fun to walk down from the top of the Washington monument. It was impossible to persuade hitn to use the elevator, and many officials for the first time as a result had the pleasure of descending the seemingly endless staircase.

The Army's First Flying Hospital
Here is the Army Air Corp’s new flying hospital, the first plane to be built for strictly ambulance purposes. In addition to facilities for twelve patients, it is equipped to carry a doctor and attendant. The “nightingale of mercy” carries a complete set of surgeon's instruments, a drinking fountain, oxygen apparatus. It is painted white, with a red cross on each side of the fuselage.
HONOR JO AMERICAN Recommended for Medal of Soviet Order of Lenin. By United Press VERBLYUD, Northern Caucasus (Russia), April 17. —George McDowell, a Kansas agriculturist and one of the original organizers of the Verblyud state farm, is the first
American to be proposed for the order of Lenin, highest distinction given to so-called heroes of labor. The Verblyud, the second largest and one of the most successful of state farms in the Soviet Union, produced a spectacular wheat crop in 1930. McDowell has been In the Soviet republic since 1923.

MISSIONARY KIDNAPED $25,000 Ransom Is Demanded by Chinese Bandits. PEIPING, China, April 17.—The capture of Godfrey Lindholm, Ortonville (Minn.) missionary, by bandits was reported today in messages to American authorities demanding $25,000 ransom for his release.
30,000 FRENCH CANADIANS TO BEJEPORTED U. S. Plans to Move Against Aliens Illegally in New England. By United Press MONTREAL, April 17.—The United States plans to deport 30,000 French Canadians scattered through various New England towns who entered this country illegally, immigration officials revealed today. A law passed two years ago permits aliens to leave the United States and re-enter in the proper manner. Thousands already have taken advantage of this law, officials said, but many of those remaining failed to pass inspection and examination by border authorities. H. R. Landis, United States commissioner, has been deporting an average of 250 persons daily from New York state alone, authorities said. Once deportation proceedings are begun and a persons is ejected from the country, he never tan return legally.
