WOMAN JAILED IN LIQUOR CASE Cop’s Search After ‘Offer’ Is Held Legal. If a policeman sees drunks come out of your home and then you offer him a drink of liquor, he has a legal right to obtain a search warrant and ransack your premises for booze. This ruling was made today by Municipal Judge Paul C. Wetter when he fined Mrs. Bessie L. Croddy, 59, of 203 Indiana avenue, owner of the Acorn Novelty Company, SIOO and sentenced her thirty Ways in the Indiana woman’s prison bn a blind tiger count. Soi Rabb, attorney, attempted to suppress evidence of Patrolman Floyd Ridenback which showed that nine days before the raid was made on Mrs. Croddy place of business Ridenback saw drunks walking from her home, that she offered him liquor to drink, and admitted that she had "parties” at her home. Wetter held that the search warrant obtained in the manner in which Ridenback obtained his warrant was legal and that the evidence could not be suppressed. Ridenback told the court he confiscated 361 quarts oi beer and found twenty gallons brewing in the raid on Mrs. Croddy’s residence. Mrs. Croddy sells confetti and other carnival novelties at the Indiana avenue address.
