RARE CHANCE IS OFFERED STATE ‘SUNSHINE GIRL' Cash Prizes and Theater Appearances Will Be Given Winners. Hearts of scores of Indiana young women were beating faster today as they made preparations for The Indianapolis Times-Indiana Theater Sunshine Girl contest, the preliminary of which is to be held at the Indiana theater one week from tonight. As entrance blanks poured in, from all indications there will be talent of every description to choose from. At the preliminary following the final stage show at the Indiana Tuesday night, the audience, by means of applause, will select the five most popular and talented girls. Then they will appear in stage shows at the Indiana during the following week, when the audiences will select winners of the five awards. Cash prizes totaling S2OO will be given to winners. The contest, also held last year, is being conducted to allow talented girls to demonstrate their ability. The Sunshine Girl of 1931 is not to be at all limited in her accomplishments, so far as the contest is concerned. She may be a beauty and win because of this alone. On the other hand she may be a pianist, an artist on some other instrument, a singer of popular or classical songs, or gifted in the art of recitation. Entrants will have equal chance of displaying their ability, regardless of the arts in which they are most gifted. An entrance blank appears on this page. Read directions carefully and mail yours immediately. It may be the chance of a lifetime. GAS CO. CASE .TO BE TAKEN TO HIGH COURT Attorneys for Stockholders to File Brief Asking for Review. Attorneys' representing Citizens Gas Company stock certificate holders today were prepared to file a brief before the United States supreme court asking review of a lower court decision upholding right of the city of Indianapolis to acquire the company. The brief maintains that the United States circuit court of appeals decision, sustaining the local federal district court’s ruling that the 1905 agreement is valid, is inconsistent with Indiana law as interpreted by the Indiana supreme court. The United States supreme court has the power to grant or deny the petition for review. In event the petition is denied, the city’s right to acquire the company would be incontestable. BAKER GETS U. 5 NEW PLANE MAKERS EXHIBIT CRAFTATSHOW Detroit Exhibit Proves Field Is Growing Smaller Each Year. BY ERNIE PYLE Times Staff Correspondent DETROIT, April 14—Of the eighty airplanes on exhibit in the national aircraft short, now in progress here, there are but five new names. Each year the field of airplane manufacturers grows smaller; fewer new ones enter the competition. The general business depression, the 1929 overproduction, overgrowing in the group which makes
medium-sized, medium-priced ships and the havoc wrought by the low prices of Stinson planes, has driven many manufacturers out of business. This year the makers seem to have cut down expenses by spending less on experimentation. Sixty-five of the eighty models on display are stock planes, In production for months and some cases years. The five newcomers to the field are: Buckley Aircraft Company of Wichita, Cloud Coupe Aircraft of Milan, Ind.; The States Aircraft Corporation of Chicago Heights, 111.; the Swanson Aircraft Corporation of Hopewell, Va., and the W. J. LoFland Aircraft Company of Detroit. Ten companies, all of which have
