Cleaning Auto Cooling System Prevents Overheating and Reduces Repair Bills
*’ v " " ■ ... ... " ' ■ ——; w .. --
Many motorists let nature take its course when warm weather approaches. Anti-freeze mixture is not removed, and the winter’s accumulation of rust, sediment and scale is left in the cooling system to retard adequate cooling, with its subsequent dangers to the engine. Automotive engineers are stressing more than ever the necessity for cleaning automobile cooling systems at least twice a year, preferably in the fall before putting in anti-freeze and again in the spring when it is removed.
FIRES CHECKED BY SPRINKLERS Automatic Device Saves Unnecessary Loss. More than a thousand dollars a minute is lost in the United States every day by lire. This money really is lost, too, for nobody gains a thing by the destruction of the property. Avery large percentage of this loss is in industrial enterprises, where life also is endangered. Yet in most of the industrial establishments this loss could be reduced greatly and in many of them entirely eliminated by the installation of automatic sprinkler systems. These are the precious moments. A small lire then can be extinguished by sprinkler equipment before human aid can be extended. The Indianapolis Automatic Sprinkler Company, 702 East Market street, has installed several hundred such systems for business and industrial concerns. It repairs and extends systems, and installs the Viking sprinkler device.

Dirty, sluggish cooling systems can not give the protection against excessive heat which modern motors demand. Most automobile radiators, after a number of months’ use, will be found only 40 to 60 per cent efficient, compared with those on new cars. This efficiency is decreased by the accumulation of grease, scale and particles of rubber from the hose ; used in the cooling system. If permitted to remain, this sediment will . deteriorate the metal so that in ! time the radiator becomes porous
Truck Fleet Travels Million Miles a Year
More Than 300 Towns on Daily Route of City Transfer Firm. A million and a quarter miles a year spent in hauling other people’s goods over the middle west is a pretty strenuous record of activity made by the Central Transfer and Storage Company of this city. Located at 118-132 South Alabama street, and under the management of Charles F. Roesner, this company has become one of the largest handlers of freight in this part of the country. It maintains regular service to more than 300 cities and towns within a radius of 100 miles of Indianapolis, making round trips every day in the week, and providing a pick-up and de-‘ livery service on contracts with a number of business concerns. Its trucks, of which there are about fifty in service, carry newspapers, b‘ ead, magazines and general merchandise for manufacturers, merchants and the general public, insuring each load. This service has proved both a great convenience and an economy to its users. It does away with several handlings of the goods, thus reducing their cost to the consumer, and it enables merchants to carry smaller stocks, sure of the prompt delivery of what may be needed j through the regular service main- I tained by the Central. Goods may leave this city in the i

STUDY OF LAW IS MADE EASY Classes Held in Morning by City School. There are people who contend that opportunity is not so great for young people as it was a few years ago, that the specialization which is apparent in most fields of endeavor calls for a longer and more expensive course of training than can be afforded by those who would like to enter the professions or arts. The Indiana Law school, 143 East Ohio street, holds open the door to those who desire to study for this learned profession. For thirty-six years it has been conducting an eminently practical school, with prominent attorneys of this city on the faculty of fourteen, and with easy access to the courts and legal proceedings. Its threeyear course leads to the degree of bachelor of law. Joseph G. Wood is secretary. Sessions of the school are held only in the mornings, and the school term runs from the third Wednesday in September into the following June. Tuition is fixed at the low sum of $l5O a year, payable in three installments. Last year 150 young men took advantage of the courses. The enrollment has been steadily gaining for some time. The method of study and the courses followed are those approved by the association of American law schools, and students thoroughly are grounded in the profession. PLAYERS LOSE FIGHT “Gag the Coach” Rule Approved by Eastern Colleges. By United Press NEW YORK, April 11.—Despite opposition of a majority of players on all league teams, the Eastern intercollegiate baseball league wfR continue its policy of keeping coaches off the bench throughout the 1931 season. Legislation barring every one except players and under-graduate managers from the bench during league games was adopted two weeks ago. Players, led by J. Edward obey, Columbia captain, circulated a petition asking that the rule be rescinded.

radiator from the car. This service is a guaranteed cure for overheating motors. Efficiency of this R. & M. system is increased by use of the R. & M. solution, devised by the ReedMueller Company. This solution removes all forms of sediment harmlessly. Boiling a radiator in a strong ! chemical solution is harmful to the radiator, according to Vera Reed, of the company, and it was to avoid I this danger that the safe R. & M. i solution was developed.
