FINDS HIS BLIND BEAUTY JUDGING NOT FAR WRONG N Made Only Few Errors,’ Says Youth Who Was Given Sight. By United Press PHILADELPHIA. April 10.—Before Earl Mussellman could see he distinguished a beautiful girl from a homely one by their voices. And when he gained his sight recently as a result of a delicate eye operation, after twenty-two years, he discovered that he had made only a few mistakes in judgment. “When I talked with girls I would Judge their appearance by the tone of their voice. I formed mental pictures of them and when I became able to actually see, I discovered that my impressions were nearly accurate,” he said. “Now my way of judging the beauty of a girl is much more sensible than making a selection as a result of merely the shape of her face or the curve of her mouth, or her physical attributes. When people smile it is reflected in the inflection of their voice. I can tell whether my friends are happy or depressed just by the exuberance expressed in their conversation. “I frequently can tell the color of a person’s hair by touching it. ‘When you are blind a sixth sense seems to develop which assists you in gaining all your impressions of the outside world” SUFFERS HEAD INJURIES Mrs. Eva Aigner, 61, Walks Into Side of Ben Davis Bus. ‘ALFRED LINGLE NO RACKETEER' Newspaper Contends ‘Jake’ Not Gangster Associate. By United Press CHICAGO, April 9.—Alfred Lingle was not a racketeer, as often charged, and he was in no sense “the unofficial chief of police,” the Chicago Tribune, for which he worked as a reporter, contended today in its story, “The Solution oi the Lingle Murder.” The Tribune pictured Lingle as a stock market plunger and race track bettor who made a grand display when he won and said nothing when he lost. After Lingle was killed last June 9, many stories were published charging that he had been a “gobetween” for police and gangsters. The Tribune said that Lingle’s reported huge income was largely mythical and that his bank deposits of $26,500 in one year represented money he repeatedly withdrew and redeposited. No evidence was found that Lingle accepted money from gamblers or used his friendship with Police Commissioner William A. Russell for personal gain, the paper contended. The Bank of England has its own water supply. One artesian well. 400 feet deep, gives a supply of 7,000 gallons an hour.
