BUMPER WHEAT CROP FORECAST BRINGS WORRY farmers and Middle Man See Peril in Holdover Grain Choking Elevators. By United Vrn* KANSAS CITY. Mo.. April 3.lrrviiicers and middlemen in the Southwestern wheat belt feel some anfir'y over the facilities for disposing of the 1931 crop, a United Press survey in'’ : "ated today. Heavy snow and rain has put the 23.303.000 acres of wheat in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma. Missouri and Texas in excellent condition and the forecast is fen- a bumper crop. - Elevators in st of the region are choked with the holdover wheat from the 1930 yield of some 160,000,000 bushels. Unless a part of this is removed, a serious shortage of storage space is certain to develop when the new wheat begins to move to market tome four months hence. Grain dealers in the larger market, terminals such as Kansas City, Omaha, Lincoln and Amarillo openly are concerned over the outlook. Much of the holdover wheat belongs to the federal farm board, and it is on this agency that averting of the threatened crisis depends, in the opinion of W. R. Scott, secretary and traffic manager of the Kansas City Board of Trade. ORDER PORTRAITS OUT Futurists Painting of Hoover Taken From Art Gallery, By United Prcsg WASHINGTON, April 3 Irreverent “psychological” portraits of President Hoover and Vice-President Curtis have been hastily removed from the walls of the Cocoran art gallery. The portraits, one of a group of sketches of prominent men by Aurelius Battaglia, young art student, were relegated to official limbo yesterday by C. Powell Minnigerode, director of the gallery, as soon as he saw them. Minnigerode had been out of town or, it was indicated, the sketches would have come down sooner

DEADLOCKED ON NAVAL ACCORD Franco-ltalian Split Over Limitation Confirmed. By United Prtgg WASHINGTON. April 3.—Rumors of a possible breakdown in the widely heralded Franco-ltalian naval limitation negotiations have been confirmed by the state depart* ment. After a prolonged session between Italian Ambassador De Martino and the department's disarmament experts, the department corroborated persistent rumors that the French and Italian conferees had become deadlocked. While the cause of the disagreement was not entirely clear, it was understood that French demands for certain replacements in 1936 were inacceptable to the Italians.
