Cost of Crime...
Crime cannot be stopped by prosecution or reformation. We must remove the cause. We must begin from the very bottom—a new foundation, for our coming generation. Parents must undertake to be the guiding lights of their children and not mere friends. It is the parent’s duty to see that their children have the proper moral foundation in life. Are we honest with ourselves and with our children when we keep from them the necessary preparations for life—that great moral understanding? It is easy for some to admire one who avoids the laws of the land, but the greatest law of all is the Moral Law.
If you are leaving ethical training out of the education of your children, you must accept the responsibility.

Parents, are you teaching your children the values of the moral laws of life? Are you teaching your children to appreciate good character above all else, honesty and sincerity in all things they do? The cost of crime is over 13 billion dollars annually, which is 12 times the cost of the maintenance of the army and navy; but this price is small compared with the cost of the moral fabric of our nation. If the parents will stop and consider that this greatest of all responsibilities rests upon them, this condition of lawlessness ' will soon disappear.
