The market, although dull, acted very well until the last hour of the session when prices began to slip downward. At the end of the session prices were about the lowest of the day. The action of the market seemed to indicate lower prices in the morning and should a real substantial firmness not develop before Saturday’s closing the market may work still lower the first of next week. UNEVEN TREND FEATURED BY GRAIN FUTURES July Wheat Advances on Short Covering; Corn Prices Off. BY HAROLD E. RAIXVILLE United Press Staff Correspondent CHICAGO, March 27.—Wheat and com rambled uncertainly on the Board of Trade today with July wheat showing firmness early, but closing about steady. Corn was weak most of the session, but shorts brought prices back to around the previous close in the late trading. Outside interest was not as large today and the market was dominated by professionals, who bought on weak spots and sold on bulges. Oats again were quiet and held to a small range depending upon the major cereals for its trend. English Mart Dull At the close old wheat was unchanged, new wheat was Vs cent higher, corn was V% to r u cent lower and oats were % cent lower to % cent higher. Provisions were steady to strong. Liverpool continued dull and about steady during the afternoon and closed unchanged to % cent lower. Buenos Aires was % cent higher at midday. The general precipitation over the belt is beneficial, although apprehension that the cold wave forecast for tonight may do some damage due to the fact that a rain has removed most of the snow covering, cash prices were unchanged. Receipts were 16 cars. Corn Holds Steady Com held steady and fluctuated but narrowly during the morning. September showed some weakness on the bearish intention report, but in general it was ignored as feed demand and pit conditions were regarded as more important. At midsession prices were % cent lower to % cent higher. Cash prices were % cent lower to % cent higher. Receipts were 135 cars. Oats eased fractionally at the start on the bearish acreage report but action was light. At midmorning prices were 3 /s cent lower to % cent higher. Cash prices were % to % cent lower. Receipts were 16 cars.
