FLYING GLASS IS CRASH PERIL Shatter-Proof Product Prevents Injury, | Because more than half the inj juries to automobile passengers in accidents result from broken and flying glass, the value of the Pittsburgh Duplate shatter-proof glass for automobiles readily is apparent, according to officials of the Perfection Windshield Company, 25 West Pratt street. This glass will not fly apart, nor will it cast off splinters. It may be struck and split into a thousand pieces, but the pieces will be retained in the frame and -will not fly about and injure passengers in the car. Duplate shatter-proof glass gives the same unobstructed vision, the same optical precision, as regular plate glass. It is not distinguishable from the latter in appearance, the sole difference being that it eliminates the danger of cuts from flying or jagged glass. Many of the newer automobiles have this glass as standard equipment, but it can be supplied in place i of ordinary glass for windows and j windshields in all makes of cars ! The Perfection Windshield Company strongly recommends to motorists whose cars are not equipped w ith this glass to have the change made at once in the interests of safety. The protection is obtained by permanently welding two sheets of thin plate glass together over a transparent elastic material that holds the two panes together and prevents any of the glass from leaving the frame. LACK OTnEWSPAPER IN TOWN BARS SITE SALE Illinois Attorney-General Rules Macon Must Keep Property. By United Press SPRINGFIELD. 111.. Feb. 28.—A piece of property which the town of Macon (HI.) .pwns, can not be sold because the town has no newspaper, according to anew ruling by At-torney-General Oscar Carlstrom. Notice of sale must be published, Carlstrom ruled, and it would be illegal to publish it in a paper printed in some other town so there is nothing for Macon to do but keep 1 the property.

Gigolo Peril By United Press CHICAGO, Feb. 28.—And it won’t be long, Professor W. S. Byron assured his-, sociology class at Northwestern university, before the “gigolo” will become an American institutution. “With the marriage market for widows even less encouraging than the stock market, the gigolo is bound to come, if he is not already here,” the professor continued. “The profesional gallant and dancing man already is an European institution. Foreign governments even have come to recognize gigolos as members of a profession and to subject their fees to income taxes. The gigolo invasion of America is eminent.”

Properly Constructed Refrigerator % Proves Economy in Ice Consumption

Better Food Preservation and Economy Appeal to Housewives. One can not have anything more : in the way of refrigeration than a good refrigerator and a regular supply of ice, and, in fact, many doubt if anything else is as good, according to officials of the Polar Ice & Fuel Company, 2000 Northwestern avenue. The big advantage of having ice whenever it is w ? anted as a garnishment to the table, the better preservation of food in the moist interior of the ice refrigerator, and the economy are factors that appeal to the housewife strongly. It is recognized that the great economy in using ice comes from a scientifically constructed refrigerator. A poor refrigerator costs many times its original price in the ice wasted. In order to provide its ice customers with the best refrigerator obtainable, the Polar company several years ago started an extensive RICHMOND INTERESTED IN HIGHWAY PROPOSAL Neighboring Cities in Ohio Doing Paving to Regain Traffic. By Times Special RICHMOND, Ind., Feb. 28. A movement is under way in neighbomg Ohio cities which are served by the Richmond-Dayton pike to seek immediate paving of the road in order to regain traffic which is now being diverted to Springfield, 0., on the National Old Trails highway. Richmond is situated in the fortunate position of being served by both highways and local business men are concerned only over the posibility of route-makers diverting the traffic to the southern part of the city when anew bridge is completed in that section. Such a route would give through travelers a wide paved street through the city seven blocks south of the business section and merchants fear that they will lose much valuable transient trade. Another important change which will be effected in the National road during the next year is the building o fan under-grade crossing of the Pennsylvania railroad, about two miles east of the city and the complete changing of the route to eliminate crosing an interurban track. The prices will be maintained, it was announced, “until prosperity returns.”

I investigation of the inkier construcI tion of ice boxes, with most amaz- | ing results. Refrigerators of well-known manufacturers were purchased of retail dealers in the usual way. On being torn apart, in ■ almost every instance the insulation was found to be nothing more than ordinary paper. Asa result of the Polar company’s study of proper ice box construction. it has been posible for the company to offer good ice boxes at the same price or less than the public has been paying for faulty ice boxes. In order to cave the purchaser as much as possible, the Polar company equipped a show room in its own building at 2000 Northwestern avenue, eliminating the expense of a show room in the high rent district. Refrigerators are shipped from the factory in car-load quantities and unloaded direct from the Polar Company’s switch into the sales room, thus saving storage and handling charges. Polar representatives gladly will call for customers at their homes and take them for a visit to the refrigerator show room, returning them to their homes afterward Polar refrigerators, well filled with MURDER CASE SHIFTED Richmond Negro Will Face Trial at Newcastle in April, By Times Special NEWCASTLE, Ind., Feb. 28.—A change of venue from Wayne circuit court at Richmond to Henry circuit court here has been taken in the case of John W. Saunders 40, Negro, charged with the murder of his stepson, Ernest L. Davis, 21, and trial will probably be held during the April term of court. The younger man was killed instantly by the discharge from a shotgun. A family quarrel led up to the tragedy. Aged Man Kills Self B.y Times Special MADISON, Ind..
