The Golden Rule

With everyone thinking law and not of right, we need many laws to stop the gaps where evasions and injustices, even crimes, may be committed without legal recourse for the victims or punishment for the transgressors. But we can live happily and peacefully by one law which is the sum total of all laws, which is the motive spirit behind all good legislation, and which has never yet been written into the statutes of any commonwealth or government. ... v - . .. It is such a simple law, so easy to understand and follow, that we can write it in our hearts and have no fear that in following it we will offend whether we know law or laws or not. It has been handed down through fable and legend, in story and tale from father to son. It is woven so closely in the fabric of our life, we have heard ii. so often repeated that it has become commonplace. But if we pick it up and wipe off the tarnish of our own neglect, we will find underneath the same pure glint of gold.
