190 ARE NAMED AS ASSESSORS FOR TOWNSHIP Appointees, Starting Work March 1, to Receive f* ' $4 a Day. Appointment of 190 special deputy assessors who will make the annual appraisement of all taxable property in Center township, was announced today by John C. McCloskey, township assessor. to i \ke the profits out of war. Hurley has arranged a series of public hearings beginning March 5. Many famous men, including military and industrial leaders, will be asked for testimony. General John J. Pershing is to be questioned at the first session. The commission expects also to call Benedict Crowell of Cleveland, assistant war secretary under President Wilson: Bernard Baruch, New York financier; Ralph T. O'Neil of Indianapolis, commander of the American Legion, and Hall Wolman of Baltimore, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In further sessions, the commission expects to take up such questions as eliminating the profit from the manufacture of munitions and conscripting industry as well as men.
