TAXATION AND REVENUE GUTS GET ATTENTION Senate Will Urge House to Get Busy on Income Tax Measure. ‘ The Indiana legislature is running around in circles on taxation problem* and not getting to first base with any solution,” Senator Earl Rowley (Rep., La Porte and Starke) charged in the senate today. Asa result of the Rowley reprimand the senate will meet as a committee of the whole at 10 a. m., Tuesday and try to reach a solution to the tax problems. Comment of Senator C. They adopted an amendment to the Beckett bill which will cut all budgets 10 per cent over the 1930 figure. The bill originally called for a mandatory cut of 25 per cent, was changed to 20 in committee and the mandatory feature eliminated by an amendment. The 90 per cent plan was evolved in a G. O. P. caucus and put across despite opposition from Senator Chester A. Perkins (Dem, St. Joseph), who pointed out that local budget cuts can not be made by blanket legislation without difficulties which may necessitate a special legislative session. Urge House Action Rowley’s particular plea for a bill which he Introduced which would limit real estate levies to $1.75 on each SIOO of taxables.
