Br Vnlted Fret* Newspaper allegations a half century ago that affairs of the Soldiers and Sailors’ home, and the institute for feeble-minded children *at Knightstown were not being handled properly, caused adoption of a concurrent resolution providing for an investigation. Among bills passed in the senate was one which limited the number of Justices of the peace in any one county to three, with one additional for an incorporated city. The bill was aimed to reduce the number in Perry township of Marlon county. ‘SERVICE AT COSr IS CIfciCiKKATJ SUCCESS Kali President Lands Scheme Turned Down In City. Service at cost transportation, effective in Cincinnati since 1925, has been a success there. This was the message brought Thursday to 200 members of the Central Electric Association by Walter A. Draper, president of the Cincinnati Street Railway Company. The service at cost provision was one of the bases of the recent offer by Samuel Insull to take over the Indianapolis Street Railway system. The offer was rejected principally because of the indeterminate franchise asked. Other speakers were T. J. Day of the Pacific Electric Company, Los Angeles; Prank Gerlack of the Electric Railways Freight Company of Cleveland; H. B. McNeely, traffic commissioner of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, and M. B. Lambert of the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company, New York. AMUSEMENTS -
