END ALL WARS, CRY AS WOMEN OPEN PARLEY Seventh Annual Conference on Causes of Conflicts Convenes in Capital. Ry United Presi WASHINGTON, Jan. 19.—Representatives of women’s organizations scattered throughout the entire United States met here totoy to discuss the reasons behind wars and ways of ending them. They came to take part in the seventh annual conference on the Cause and Cure of War, an institution founded in 1925 by Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt of New York' City, famed suffrage leader. The conferences are participated in by twelve women’s organizations. Noted Speakers to Be Heard ’’The Demobilization of the War Machine” was chosen as the theme of the conference, preceding the proposed World Disarmament conference at Geneva in 1932. Various peakers of note are on the program. These include Senator David Heed (Rep., Pa ), one of the American delegation to the London naval conference; Miss Jane Addams, president of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom; Paul Kellogg, magazine editor; James G. MacDonald, chairman of the Foreign Policy Association, and Charles P. Warner, former assistant secretary of the navy for aeronautics. Meeting Ends Thursday One of the high spots of the conference, according to its leaders, will be a round table discussion of ‘ World Empires.” This is to be shared in by representatives of a number of nations. Sponsors of the conference include the Federation of Women’s Clubs, the League of Women Voters, the Young Women's Christian Asociatlon, the Women’s Trade Union League, the American Association of University Women, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and everal religious and missionary groups. The meetings will extend through Thursday night. INVITE ALL PROPOSALS FOR REAPPORTIONMENT Senate Committee to Start Work on Task of Reducing Districts. Republican and Democratic state organizations and members of the senate congressional reapportionment committee will be asked today by Senator Glenn R. Slenker (Rep., Carroll, Clinton and White), committee chairman, to submit their ideas for the reduction of Indiana’s thirteen districts to twelve. Senator Slenker is soliciting quick reply as he is desirous of having the bill drafted early and introduced and considered before the last minute jam. He said he hoped to have the reapportionment bill ready for the senate before the budget and various tax bills are introduced. REVIVAL OF BUILDING PREDICTED FOR YEAR Home Industry and Allied Trades Will Profit, Says W. M.- Evans. Expressions that the home building industry and allied trades will experience a revival in activity this year were made today at a meeting of the home show committee of the Indianapolis Real Estate Board at the Columbia Club. The 1931 home exposition will be held from April 11 to 18 in the manufacturers' building at the Indiana fairground. “Now is the logical time to increase our appropriations for advertising the home show,” Walter M. Evans, chairman of the committee, said. “The depression of 1930 demands that business today should obtain the added stimulus from more advertising.” Evans reported that exhibit space totaling $13,000 already has been sold exhibitors. This is more than one-half of the booth space, he said, and is a good record for this time of the year. Several exhibitors have increased their space over last year.
